Out of commission!

Fellow scrappers; I am unable to do a lot right now. I had Carpal Tunnel surgery on both hands Thursday. My fingers are still somewhat numb so I feel like I am trying to function with boxing gloves on! I was hoping to have my tables and desk moved down to the living room where I plan to set up my Scrapbooking corner so I could do "light duty" of sorting papers, etc. while I heal, but I didn't get the heavy work done first, and I guess I shouldn't be using my hands that much. I think I'll just be lazy the rest of the weekend and only use my thumb - on the TV remote!

Welcome to Icdefior!

Please join me in welcoming our newest member - Icdefior - (I don't know how to pronounce that or what it means but we're glad to have you.)

You mentioned that you lost both your parents this past year; You probably read that I lost my Mom in August and am planning to make a Memory book of her and my Dad (he died in 1990). I have chosen a 12 x 12 album, as I want to put all the lovely cards we received in it, too. I have a family album started using a lot of their pictures, but I want this one to be a place to put the obituaries, a picture of their tombstone, the pictures of the flowers, etc.

I can't type much right now - I had surgery on my hands Thursday, but we will be glad to help you get started on this special project.

Hoping for a Happier New Year!

Well, the two Christmas trees are stripped, the ornaments are put away, the mantle is clear, and I will carry the trees back down to the basement over the weekend. Christmas is over - let the New Year begin!

After I get the big tree moved out, I am going to set up my Scrapbooking corner in the living room so I am anxious to get that done. I have a desk, a 4 ft. table, a smaller table (just for my Cricut). and an office chair. I have my paper and embellishments in those stacked plastic drawers and I will put the bigger ones under the table and the smaller ones on top of the table. I am really looking forward to having a designated work space where I can get to my supplies.

I hope this new year is going to be a good one for all of us. It didn't start out very well for me as my brother ended up back in the hospital from 12/29 until 1/2 with another bowel obstruction and I had a battle with the nursing home not wanting to hold his bed for him. He has been at that facility for eight years so it was quite upsetting to both of us, with them planning to do that. They explained that Indiana Medicare laws only hold the nursing home bed for 12 HOURS while the resident goes to the hospital and wanted me to pay $177.00 per day just to hold his bed for him. It varies by state; when my mother was in the hospital here in KY for four days before she died, the nursing home never said a word about holding her bed. His facility called me NINE HOURS after he was admitted to the hospital, wanting money. I urge all of you to write to your state's legislators about this. It stands to reason that people who have to live in a long-term care facility are there because they are sick or old and are more likely to be hospitalized than others.

Sorry, I didn't mean to get on a tangent, but please find out what your state's policy is on this and complain if it is like Indiana's.

I hope this was just a leftover of the bad year I've had of 2011 and look forward to better things to come. I don't make New Year's resolutions but I'm going to try to make some changes for the better.

How's your New Year going so far? Do you make Resolutions?

New Grand Baby

I to have been MIA for a while, but I am scrapping with a new purpose. On December 21, my grandson, Josh was born, so I have a new scrapbook for him. Also working on the wedding scrapbook from October too. I'll take some pictures and share in the next couple of weeks.

Are you ready for Christmas?

I don't have much family so I don't have a lot of shopping to do. I have a few friends that I shop for. I do love to decorate so I have two Christmas trees, the big one that I call my "sparkly" tree in the living room, and a 6 ft. one in the dining room that I put all my snowmen ornaments on. My cat Molly likes to sleep under the tree. I also like to decorate the mantle over the living room fireplace, and the dining room table. I need to change the wreath on the front door - it is still my Fall wreath, but I keep forgetting to bring the Christmas one up from the basement.
I went to the Christmas potluck at the local Scrapbook store last Friday and I got the pictures mounted on four pages. I usually do that - place and mount the pictures and then do the embellishments and journaling at home. But, it was a nice time of fellowship for the season.
How are you all coming along with your Christmas plans?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow scrappers! Enjoy your holiday - and take pictures.
I drove to Indiana in the rain today to have Thanksgiving dinner with my brother who is in a nursing home (stroke eight years ago) and was disappointed that they served Pork Loin, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, and Chess Pie. I was so set for Turkey and dressing but didn't get it. I am going to get a small turkey breast and fix my own meal Thursday and have what I consider a Thanksgiving dinner: Turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry salad, and usually green beans and/or corn. I don't like pumpkin pie so I will have pecan pie, or I may make a jam cake. After work tomorrow, I will have four days at home which I plan to do my Christmas decorating and if I cook Thursday, I will have leftovers to last me through it.
Everyone, have a good Thanksgiving!
