Change of manager.

Your former manager was unable to continue and I have been selected to take over her duties with Eons blessings.
I hope you will all post a couple photos and give us a shout as well.
I will do my best to keep us going.

it's been a while

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been writing lately. Had a roung year last year, but everything is going really well now. We have been very busy in the yard since I got laid last Nov. I figured if I wasn't working at a job then I better put the time to good use. We have put in two peach trees and a small veggie garden. I just gathered the last of the lettuce and have tomatoes coming. I planted 3 kinds. I need to plant my beans and squash soon if I am going to.
We planted a lilac bush and two big rose bushes my friend had us pull up out of her yard. I am laying down more newspaper and plastic in areas I am not going to be planting now and covering with sand and rocks. Later some of it will be planted, but this will help control the weeds. My friends that own the Blue Mule in Globe(they are having to sell it)have given me a lot of plants and ground cover and said I could have as much as I want. We are starting to develope the hillside at the back of our property. We are starting to put in rock walls and will terrace the hillside and put in plants. I also started a patch of grass that is really starting to take off. We have an old metal couch at the edge of the hillside and it will a nice place to watch the sunset and enjoy the flowers.
My herb garden is doing well, I just planted garlic and onions. We have had a few rabbits eat my ice plant, so I guess I will have to get mad at my little friends. I also planted canna lilies and five Mexican bird of paradise.
I have many more wildflowers this year, even larkspur came up and I don't know when I planted that.
Tommorow I hope to get up earlier and really so some work. Take care everyone.

Spring

I hope all survived this cold winter. I just barely did. Then we went into 93 degree temps. Finally today it is cooler and comfortable, yard got mowed and I got fresh air.
Orchid lilies are looking strong but a few plants couldn't take the exceptionally cold winter.

Q of the day.

Ok...I am nearing the move day to my land in NW Wisconsin...truly sand country

the land was originally cleared to determine where my new park model trailer would go... I returned a couple of weeks ago to meet with the water well driller and found the area grown over...which I don't want

any ideas on how to get rid of the growth...I am too old to mow the area (am giving my mower away to someone who was kind enough to mow my lawn all last year)

I am planning on spraying with a herbicide to kill all vegetation (not planning on 'ground' planting until next year...and not a 'natural' person (although I do wear leather shoes)...

the area I am clearing is about 50x100ft...the remainder will continue to be wooded

any other ideas?

Sorry I have been missing for a few days, but had bad infection in eye and sinus as well from smoke from big swamp fire near. Pills have a way of making me sleepy and had to stay off computer.
I hope every ones gardens are doing well.. Mine are..

Easter Lily

They sure are pretty opened up for my son's birthday on the 6th of June. I finally found a spot for my three Japanese red maples. We were having a beautiful spring for a while, ideal temperatures, rain and dew in the mornings. That ceased Friday and went right to 97 degrees in the shade..Hope everyones gardens are coming along great.

Finall cleaned!!

I managed to get my front flower bed cleaned, it was a mess from last fall.
Also I will have a bumper crop of Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate this year thanks to the great timing of the rain!! My orchid Lilies are really strong and coming along great, I can hardly contain myself waiting for the blooms so I may share..

How to Build a Rainwater Collection System

save that rainwater for your plants...years ago there was a concept that water collected during a thunderstorm...ie...when there is lightning...the water is supercharged. it is highly ionized and excellent for plants (and of course, the grass seemed way greener...though may have been because it was spring and grass was in growing stage and had been recently fertilized...anyway...)

from the article: Recycle your rainwater and keep your landscaping looking healthy, the eco-friendly way. Building a rainwater collection system is fast, easy and can save you money on your water bill, as well as significantly reduce your total water usage.

and, you might consider going one step further and make a rainwater garden view link
