Online Travel Journals: Part 1

Rudy or whoever his alter ego is suggested I post a blog about my upcoming and very close road trip with my 15+ yr old neice. Before I could do that I had to make a decision about which online journaling/blogging program I wanted to use. I am started a 3 part blog on this research. Part 1 is premeiring tonight.

I have not tried to link to an EONs website, lets see if this works. If it does, and if you see any horrible typos, let me know please. I am so old and so tired from raising a teenager, I can't see the trees for the forest anymore, though I have reviewed this blog numerous times.

Bermuda

I took a 7 night cruise on the Costa Magica to Bermuda in April and managed not to get forever lost in the Triangle, but sometimes felt like it, the bad East Coast Storm followed us right to the island. They had to close the ferry service around the island for a few days since the winds were so strong. I did visit my beach....Horseshoe Bay, the one with hard packed soft pink sand (making for marvelous walking) and weird rock formations and miles of hidden secluded beach coves to explore, the water was a beautiful light blue color and crystal clear....like a sparkling swimming pool minus the chlorine!
The cruise cost me $350 p/p after all port fees and taxes, then we each got a $100 ship credit plus a free upgrade. I felt sort of guilty to get it for so cheap, I almost felt like I was ripping them off. Just what we ate in food alone must have cost more then our ticket price.

travel blogging options..

I'll be the first to post perhaps? COOL!
I am taking a road trip (from Minnesota to North Carolina) with my 15 year old neice (her first road trip ever) who will also be driving for the very first time! Then I go to England for a few weeks, and return to North Carolina to get my neice and drive back to Mn by a different route.

I want to encourage her to blog and post pictures of her experiences. I think having a blog where she and I could post our thoughts and pictures together for our family and friends would be great fun.

MY QUESTION: What criteria should I consider in selecting a travel blog website or would a picture hosting website that can be linked to a blog be a better choice? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. Debra:)

What happened to our fearless and savvy leader?

Ok, I signed up, thinking I would get the opportunity to get real time feed back from a real time travel pro from Eons (or at least someone who had his permission to function in his absence). What happened? I guess Mac and I will have to become our own travel advisors! And I am from Minnesota. Wanted to support the 'homeboy'. Savvy Traveler, Where, O' wherefore aren't thou? (are at least a cyberspace imitation?) debra:)

Turkey on the Cheap

I'd like to think of myself as somewhat of a savvy Traveler and would take a week vacation to check out the sights of hell if the price was cheap enough.....just kidding.
But I did take a 14 day trip to Turkey including flight, transfers, hotel, escorted bus tour all across the country, special excursions and some meals all for $999, now how can you beat a deal like that!

The Green Flash

I observed the famous Hawaii green flash
one evening at sunset in Waikiki while sitting
by the ocean watching the sun go
down with a great view of Diamond Head to the left.
The air was mild with a light breeze smelling of
tropical flowers and the sounds of Hawaiian music in
the distance from a luau being held at a nearby hotel.
The sky was clear and just after the sun dipped
below the rim into the Western Pacific Ocean there was
this burst of deep emerald green color. I have never
seen anything like it, the color was so intense and
quick. It is quite rare to see one. The Green Flash is a fleeting splash of intense
emerald light appearing on the horizon in the blink of
an eye just after sunset

Tip Of The Day

Hotwire is running some pretty good deals lately. I rented a compact car for 2 weeks for only $209 including all the taxes. Plus I got a 2 star hotel in Denver for $37 a night total.

Fun Day in Dutch St Maarten

Many cruise ships stop in
Philipsburg, St. Maarten. Why take a expensive tour when you can have an excellent day for an inexpensive way. From the cruise dock it's only a short walk into town. Philipsburg is nestled on Great Bay with a long sandy stretch of sandy beach, great for sunbathing and swimming. There is a wide boardwalk landscaped with palms and tropical flowers all along the Bay with a scenic view of the water and plenty of shops to browse and outdoor cafes. Everyone is friendly speaks English and accept the US Dollar.

Skybus

Oh yes I forgot to mention the $76 price was for TWO people

Skybus

My favorite Web Site to find the best travel deals is travelzoo.com. I found some real bargains there. My best deal lately was a round trip flight from Columbus, Ohio to Portsmouth, New Hampshire for $76 total. It's a new upstart no frills airline called "Skybus" and I got in on their grand opening sale.
