Missing Depression
It seems Rocky is depressed as I am about Samantha's passing., Where we buried her, he had never been to that part of our property before, and now he goes every morning, even without me. Anyone else experience this with their pets?
Well you asked
I trust my doggies (Rocky and Samantha) with their reactions to people (repairmen, etc) and they are also amazing as if I am comfortable with visitors, they are too. Food is not a problem as they both have been off table scraps for almost a year due to illnesses, altho I have to confess we don't leave anything "tempting" in the garbage like chicken bones, pizza crusts, etc.
They are sure as hell smarter about people than I am - LOL

Coughs - Big Time
Had some stray dogs in the yard last week, and then Sunday Rocky starting hacking and Monday Samantha started it too. They both hacked up white stuff for a day, and now they do not - no blood in it. Rocky is better today, but Samantha was so bad last night, I got up two or three times to give her some water. Called the vet and he said, they must have caught a virus from the strays - they have had their Bordatella shots (spelling), and he said to wait a couple of more days and if not better, antibiotics would be in order. Anyone else had this experience?
HOT SPOT????
Just came back from the Vet's, Samantha went outside this morning to do her business at 6am and came back at 8am(she always does her morning explorations) and I thought something had taken a bite out of her left hind quarter(we do have bears, coyotes, etc. around here) - was seeping blood, but not bleeding actively, so I put a clean towel and pressure on it and sprayed it lightly with bactine - she also didn't seem to be walking very well.
Vet said "hot spot" and she did it to herself?????? They are both on Advantix, so ticks. mosquitos(we are at 3500 feet so mosquitos are usually not a problem anyway), fleas are not the problem, but he said sometimes it is an invasion of one of the above and she chewed, bit off all the hair around the area. She is on a light narcotic for 2 days and an antibiotic for 6 days.
Anyone else had this happen?

What Happens?
When I'm in the main house, Rocky HAS to be wherever I am in whatever room - Samantha is content to just be able to see me. WHen I'm outside gardening or over in my studio, they both wait until I come back into view and act like I've been gone for days. They are on a dog wire for their own protection, Invisable Fence, which they are both used to, but I worry that if something happens to me, what happens to them? They like my SO; but don't follow him around - so just wondering?
Newbie here!
So glad to find this group!
I have a 10 year old purebred male Rot named Rocky, who just started suffering from diabetes about 9 months ago - he is up and down and went from 140lbs to 120 lbs., which is probably a good thing?? Recommendations?
I also have a 70% Rot female and 30% who knows named Samantha who is 14 years old, and just started "leaking" at about the same time as Rock got his diabetes and is on DES once a week, and gets her blood checked once every 3 months to make sure the estrogen is not doing her any harm.
They are my best friends and I hope y'all can share some stories and recommendations.
Thanks!!
