Hello from Inside Mexico
Hi everyone! I'm the publisher of Inside Mexico, which is the most widely distributed English language magazine in Mexico. Each month we publish information on Mexican news, culture, arts and current events, plus info that English speakers need (Real Estate, Health, Banking) to move to and live in Mexico.
If you go to www.insidemex.com, you can download free PDF copies of back issues of the magazine. In June, we'll be relaunching the site with more tools and content. Also we have a free weekly e-newsletter with info of interest to people living in Mexico, moving to Mexico, and visiting Mexico.
Please feel free to give us a shout! editor@insidemex.com.
Cheers,
Margot Lee Shetterly

Buy real estate in Mexico?
If you are thinking of retiring in a sunny place, enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle, lower cost of living, while being just a few hours away from the kids or any other obligation in the US or Canada... consider Mexico. The laws are different but you can own property and get title insurance or even a mortgage through American companies. Take a look at this site to find out how: view link
It's about taking a vacation and seminar and learning how to conduct a safe transaction when buying real estate in Mexico. Happy travels!

Mexico in the future
Hi,
I am realtor by trade and a travel writer by passion. My best friend lives in San Miguel de Allende, and While I enjoy every time I visit her, the reality is that I could never live that far from the ocean. In a perfect world I would probably split my time between the coast of Mexico, a sailing yacht and my house in 'Vermont. I don['t have a yacht yet, but I always keep it in my vision of the future.
So for the moment that is the news. I am interested in meeting a man who might enjoy such a life.
Enjoy the day, and I look forward to your feedback,
Brooke

I am now 56 and married. I saw your post a few weeks ago and it got me to thinking that is what I would like to do. I will have SS and I have a 401 that I have been adding to for 10 yrs. I work from home via the computer and can do it anywhere. So a 5 yr plan for moving is what we are working toward. I woul dlike to get the inf needed to plan in a logical/pratical way. Good to meet you.

New to Group
Hi everyone. Doesn't look like this group is very active anymore, but thought I'd give it a try anyway. My husband and I have thought alot about retiring in Mexico. What about if you're not interested in buying anything?? Can't you just rent??
Hope we can get this going again. It's a great topic.

retire
I have just recently started to think about this. I live in Baton Rouge, La. which has changed after Katrina.(not for the better). I looked at moving out of the city but also due to Katrina the cost of housing is extremely high and hardly worth it. OK, I admit it, I've never been fond of Baton Rouge or Louisiana for that matter. guess the city I felt most comfortable with was San Francisco "back in the day". so I guess my options are to "hunker down" or get moving and check out alternatives. years ago the military sent me to Japan and I got along with the culture..then Northwest Pakistan and I did OK there. the language thing bothers me but maybe I could learn it.

I live in a colonial city in the Central Highlands, high up in the mountains.

Ah Mexico...sunny beaches and Sam's Clubs
I have never been to the interior of Mexico except a few business trips to Mexico City years ago.
That's about to change. I've heard some good things about living in Mexico, so I'm going to Zacatecas to look around.
Any advice from veterans is appreciated.
