Drawing for free Site Build It (Value $299)
Linda and I started a new website, and we invite you to celebrate with us by entering a drawing for a free Site Build It (SBI) valued at $299. The drawing will be held on January 1, 2009. You already know my passion for Site Build It since I have built four SBI sites, and I am planning to build another one in the near future.

The new site is www.successful-WAHM.com. What is a WAHM? It is the abbreviation for work at home mom, but it could be a work at home grandmom (WAHGM), a work at home dad, or a work at home grand dad.
If you have thought about starting an online business, start it with Site Build It.

Soft music of the 50's, and 60's LIVE Stream at Br
Ken Noble sent me this message about streaming audio of some of the old songs we would enjoy.
I tuned in to the website and listened for a few minutes and enjoyed some great music and did not hear a commercial.
This is Ken's show. I am listening to a trumpet solo of "The High and the Mighty" as I type this.
I pass this on to you for your examination. John

The popular standards format that ran for seven months on KDDK-FM in
Baton Rouge, Louisiana was recently replaced with youth oriented
programming. However, a live stream of that standards show can now be heard at www.BroadwayandVocals.com .
In addition to our core artists like Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis,
Patsy Cline, Tony Bennett, Glen Campbell, Vikki Carr, Nat King Cole,
Julie Andrews, Bobby Darin, Everly Brothers, and Elvis Presley, many
of the significant instrumentals of the last 50 years are included in
our playlist of 2,106 recordings by 660 different artists.
Fifty-one (51) Frank Sinatra recordings are in our playlist.
During the first seven days of November we have had listeners from
U.S.A., Great Britain, Canada, Philippines, Australia, Mexico,
Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Venezuela, Malaysia, Ireland, Croatia,
Japan, Denmark, Belgium, Argentina, and Sweden.
When you go to www.BroadwayandVocals.com , the music stream should start immediately.
Be well,
Ken Noble

Incorrect Retirement Calculators
Most of the retirement calculators on the Internet give incorrect results.
Most of the retirement calculators are nothing more than sales tools for the companies that sponsor them on their websites.
I don't know about you, but I used several retirement calculators from respected investment companies and they told me that I was going to live in a cardboard box under a bridge in my latter retirement years.
When I researched the basis for retirement calculators, I realized that most of them are sales tools to attract you to use the company for your financial planning and investments. These calculators called “teaser” retirement calculators. They tease you into thinking your retirement plan is in trouble so you will use the company’s services.
Another pet peeve of mine is most of them assume you will need 70 – 90% of your pre-retirement income for your retirement income. If you really analyze your spendable income during your working years, you probably never had that much income to spend on yourself. Just think about paying your mortgage, sending kids to college, saving for retirement, supporting multiple vehicles and so on. If you never had that much spendable income, why will you suddenly need that much when all the obligations of your working years have been satisfied? I recommend you seriously evaluate your projected retirement expenses and establish a retirement budget. I predict you will need much less than the 70%.
I started a website to evaluate retirement calculators at
www.best-retirement-calculators.com
Read about the best free retirement calculators I have found so far

I also have a page on retirement expenses to help you evaluate your expenses against a model statistical couple preparing for retirement.

Please give me any suggestions for improvements to the best retirement calculators website or suggest any other calculators that should be included.
Thanks, John Howe

What is Your Retirement Dream Job
What is the retirement dream job that you have always dreamed about?
I will lead off by telling mine. My dream job is to generate retirement income using the Internet. This will allow me to run my business from anywhere in the world where there is an Internet connection. This way, Linda, my wife of over 40 years, and I can travel without being out of touch with my business.
Jump in and tell us about your retirement dream job.

Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving
Linda and I wish our group a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving. We will be burning up the highway this Thanksgiving visiting our children and grandchildren. A highlight of the holiday will be the baptism of our new grandson and the second birthday of our granddaughter.
Best to all,
John
Best to all,

Don't believe all you read on the Internet
If you are a member of this group, life has already taught you that there is no free lunch.
I just deleted a post by Mike Chase that had the following "bull" in it:
"This program requires no cold calling. You will be making 2-3 minute calls to people that have contacted us…and you do no selling, no explaining and no convincing. Once qualified and returning calls, you can begin receiving $500 to $3,500 on a regular basis simply by returning phone calls to people that are looking to change their financial future."
Now if you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you …… cheap!
There are opportunities on the Internet, but they take work like any other job. The "get rich quick" theme is what makes dishonest marketers richer and honest people poorer …… and more disillusioned.
Be careful what you believe.
Friendly advice from your site moderator.

Invitation to Join
I have set up this group to compliment my mission of educating the Boomer population about the various retirement job options on the Internet. I am not selling a product, just providing information.
You say, "Nothing is free" and you are right. This will cost you the time that you spend reading it.
My wife and I have created a website, www.retirement-jobs-online.com, to help people understand the conservative job possibilities on the Internet. This is an information site. It is not full of high pressure sales pitches. Take a look and see for yourself.
We also publish a weekly online magazine, www.boomer-ezine.com. We invite you to become a member of our eZine community.
Thanks in advance for your consideration. Let's work together to create a community on this site.

Article About Retirement Calculators
I recently wrote an article about retirement calculators on the Internet. It seems that most of the retirement calculators on the Internet are designed by investment and securities firms whose goal is to make you invest with them and make them money. These calculators do not necessarily give you the true picture of your retirement finances.
If you plan to work after retirement and the calculator does not allow for income from a retirement job, your retirement financial projections will be off by a mile. Income from a retirement job can have a very positive impact on your retirement finances.

Answer to Beth
Beth, I see that you live in Jasper, Alberta. I have always considered Baniff and Jasper to be God's Country. I expect that you are waiting for the Spring thaw now, but when it comes it will be beautiful.
I am originally Canadian and I have been to Alberta many times.
That aside, if you want to look for an conventional job, I recommend www.retirementjobs.com. If you are considering using the Internet as a possible job, I recommend the website that my wife and I manage, www.retirement-jobs-online.com.
I would expect that there are a lot of hospitality jobs in Jasper. Are any of those possibilities?
