The score is starting to resemble a Patriots game!
13-1 as I write this. Is it safe to go to bed early? I'm curious about how Francona will play it. Will he sit Beckett soon-ish and let the bullpen get some work? Who will get the call? If it's Gagne, how many runs will he allow? I guess I can read about such things in the morning. Tomorrow should be interesting. Historically, blowouts like this don't mean much. But wouldn't it be great if the Sox simply continue the damage!?
Okay, J.D., You're Forgiven
Where were you all season? Never mind - that was spectacular!
An auspicious first inning! Let's keep it up, guys!

The "game of inches" is not going our way
As with the other games in this series, a few inches have had a great effect on tonight's score so far. First, Manny came as close to a home run as you can possibly come - hitting right on the edge of the wall between "in play" and "out" (0.001", minus 1 run for the Sox). Then, Lowell nearly hit a double down the left field line with two on and two outs (3", minus 2 runs for the Sox). That's the damage so far: Three inches, three runs.
Meanwhile, Josh Beckett has been superb while Crisp and Lugo continue their pathetic misadventures in batting.

Manny Delivers
Manny didn't hit a run-of-the-mill walk-off home run - he unloaded on that ball - sending it off into the night. It was pure poetry. ...Awesome!
I am such an idiot
(...and not in the 2004 sense of "Idiot" which would be a good thing)
I was at the game last night (thanks to Eons!) and what a great night and game it was! Dice-K was mowing them down. Big Papi hit one off the wall and another over it. The air was turning crisp and fall-like and with the moon rising over the center field scoreboard, it felt almost like the old 2004 magic was back.
So why did I give up on the O's? I watched an inning on the big screen from behind the Sox dugout but, when the O's - behind 9-6, had runners on 2nd and 3rd and failed to score in the 8th, I gave up on them and left the park. I had lots of company - what a bunch of idiots. We forget what Yogi taught us: It ain't over 'til it's over.
Anyhow - GO SOX!
