"Frankie goes to Fenway"
Out local paper just had an article about a new childrens book (but I want to get it!) by three local women. I'll post the article below to photos (unless someone can tell me how to embed the article in a post).
It's about a die-hard Red Sox fan, a field mouse named Freddie, who moves from Vermont to live at Fenway Park, the field of his dreams. They describe it as an "older childrens book" because it is longer (48 pages) and has chapters, and get this - the chapters are innings!! The book also has a lot of illustrations.
If you don't find it elsewhere, you can find it at

Being at the game...

(Copy of my 10/7/08 blog)
"It's supposed to be in the low 40's... and the game doesn't start until 8:35."
I'm im-ing with my husband—does he want to go to the ALDS Red Sox game tonight? I kind of want to go, but on the other hand, as I've already said, it's supposed to be in the low 40's and the game doesn't start until 8:35. I hate the cold and usually go to sleep between 9:30 and 10. So I tell him, "maybe you can find someone to go with you."
He replies back, "do you want to go with me?"
"Yes! Yes, I do," I say, remembering how much fun it is to actually be at the ball park. Sometimes I start feeling a bit "old" and not eager to push myself to do something out of the norm on a week night. What... am I in school??? No! I can come in to work a bit tired and ragged around the edges. Keeping fun in my life is important, and I seem to be fighting it a bit lately. So, fortunately, I've got a great guy who keeps me on track by asking the right question: "do you want to go with me?"
Last night's game was amazing. When we went to pick up our tickets at Higgs CitySide Tickets, they said, "we can do better than that for you," and gave us tickets right behind home plate about 10 rows up. Wow! That's the closest I've ever been to a major league ball player! The game was a roller-coaster, but with that walk-off single by Jed Lowry in the 9th—it was elation and pandemonium. We hug and jump up and down and sing, love that dirty water. Oh, Boston you're my home.
As we're walking home, I remind my husband that in 1986, our very first date was a Red Sox game. The Sox lost, we won. He smiles and hugs me. Nuff said.
