Scrappy Challenge: Come One. Come All!
Scrappy Challenge: Come One. Come All!
The goal of this challenge is to whittle away at those stashes that keep growing and growing! The rules are simple.
1. You MUST use your STASH. You may buy border, backing or batting ONLY if you absolutely have to.
2. There are NO size requirements. It can be as big as a queen size quilt or as small as potholders. 3. The pattern is up to you. It's your choice.
4. The only requirement is that it has to be made from your stash/scraps. (Yes, I know that's a repeat of #1 but you know.)
There will be a great sense of accomplishment when you make something out of that fabric you just HAD to have but which has been sitting there saying, "PLEASE USE ME because I want to make someone cozy and happy." You will be surprised at the number of smiles you will bring to the faces of your friends and families with scrappy quilts made from fabric that is just sitting doing nothing in your closet." Just think of how much more fabric you can put in the closet when your stash is gone.
So buddies are you up for the challenge? I already cheated (uh-oh) and have a scrappy baby quilt top done. So let’s see how many scrappy ideas we can come up with. I can’t wait to see all of the fantastic ideas I can copy (oops maybe I shouldn’t have said that).

I Am So Depressed
I have been going through my workroom coordinating what I thought were a few UFOs, and discovered a box of cross stitch pieces I have done and never got around to framing them. I make fabric frames, and there are about ten pieces I need to finish off.
Then I thought I had two quilt UFO's. I conveniently forgot about a few others. There are 2 half completed tops, there is one that has all the main blocks but needs to be put together and borders created. There is one top that after I got it together I hated it, so took it apart and how have the blocks and need to find what to do with them.
And sofa pillows which I am working on. Plus I have three BOMs that I am faithfully collecting the monthly blocks for, and I want to do them, but can't bring myself to do that without cleaning up some of the UFOs, WIPs and WISPs that are accumulating. I NEVER used to have unfinished projects.
I've gone to the dark side.

Hi Buddies
Hi there,
Hope everyone has had a great week and weekend.Things have been so busy at work and I signed on to work with a group of 2nd graders in an after school project called Destination Imagination. I didn't realize how much I was getting myself into but oh well I am in it now so wish me luck. It is a problem solving challenge that the students have to present a skit,do research and do an instant challenge. The main thing is that they work together but they will be judged on every part of their presentation.Enough of my boring stuff. The slideshow below is of the quilt on display already for Greece notice one of the signs the beds at the Olympics have quilts on the. Is that cool or what. A bunch of the thank you letters the kids wrote me I just had to share with you. I know I tell you how tired I am all the time but theses letters are why I say that I get more than I give.
I also started a baby quilt for a friend at work who is expecting her 1st grandchild. It is just the top I will finish it next weekend. It is a bit wild but it is all scrappy and made out of little squares sewed together while driving that my buddy Sharon told me about. I also made 2 small French memo boards. I was looking to buy a big one but i couldn't find one so I thought I would try to make one. My problem was that I couldn't afford a big canvas to make it on so I got little ones. My fridge is down to just a handful of pictures.
Well everyone thanks for listening to my rambling and have a great week.

Color Your World
Need inspiration? I know you do, we all do. Cause it is Blah February in most parts of the USA. Even here in Sunny Mexico it isn't all that sunny. Been having some mood-lowering clouds this past week, even rain GASP!, so here is something cool for you.
At the Colortopia site, with their My Image Inspiration Tool all you have to do is upload an image of your inspiration piece and like magic it shows you 3 color choices. When you click on one of them it goes into a deeper palette that you can print out so you know the exact names of the colors you need!
So, like, if you find something on say, Pinterest, you can upload it to Colortopia and get some good color suggestions.
I thought this would be really great for those hue-challenged quilters, especially if we are trying to work out of our stash.

Patience?
I can't believe how often people say to me about my quilting, "Oh, I just wouldn't have the patience for that." Non-quilters say it about quilting in general, and quilters say it about hand quilting or applique. I'm starting to get just a little testy about it. Any day now, I'm going to whip out my bad girl side and say, "And I don't have the patience to sit dead-eyed in front of a TV all evening."
Honestly! Do they say that to painters, writers, musicians. Can you hear it? "Oh, I just wouldn't have the patience to practice the piano." "Oh, I just wouldn't have the patience to paint that mural." I am really tired of defending this particular creative pursuit.
Whew! I feel better now.

Shopping Out Of My Stash
I have got so much fabric that I can't justify buying any more, so I have resolved to make stuff using only using what I have on hand. I have to admit it is cramping my style, but buying more fabric while miles of fabric sit there unused is just wasteful.
It finally occurred to me that it would be a great creativity and ingenuity challenge to work only out of what I have on hand until I reduce dramatically the fabric stock.
Here's a photo of some of it from a couple of years ago.
