The Pulpwood Queen says There's No Place Like Home
Dear Readers,
I'm home at last. Finally caught up on sleep lost on book tour, but I think it still is going to take awhile to for my body to recover, ha ha ha! Back in the shop and for those of you who haven't a clue who I am, I am the owner of a hair salon/book store in historic Jefferson, Texas called Beauty and the Book. I am also the founder of the largest "meeting and discussing" book club in the world, The Pulpwood Queens. We all meet once a month in our respective cities and all read the same book which I select. We run coast to coast and now in eight foreign countries. Our book club is the only franchised book club that I know of that does that and I also can arrange for our author of the month to call in to your chapter. If you are interested in joining the Pulpwood Queens, (guys you can join too as we call the men in our clubs, Timber Guys), or just want more information just email me at kathy@beautyandthebook.com. I'll fill you in.
Just so great to be home and currently reading the advance galley from Austin, Texas author and Texas Monthly former columnist, Sarah Bird. It's going to be a big book so get ready.
And one book that my Pulpwood Queen Posse' (Pulpwood Queens who traveled with me on the book tour road) read aloud in the car was "Chicken Dance" by Jacques Couvillon which is one of the best reads I have read in ages. It's set on an island off of Louisiana where everybody raises chickens, kind of a My Dog Spot for chickens with a little Charlotte's Web and To Kill a Mockingbird thrown in. Coming of age book told through the eyes of a young boy and the one thing about this book that makes it so unique besides the chickens is the authors voice. He has this boy's voice so real it's not even funny. Do you know when you have read a good book? Two things. One, you can't get it off your mind. Two, you want to read it again.
More later but have an early morning appointment at the shop. Evidently all those color clients I did before I left on book tour and all scrambling to get back in to get their roots done.
Come see me, I'll leave the hair dryer on for ya!
Tiara wearing and Book sharing,
Kathy L. Patrick

Latest Updates from the Pulpwood Queen!
Dear Readers!
I am loving ALL your wonderful messages and STILL currently on book tour! So great to hear from some of you that I have met on my travels through the mid-south and south! The BIG HAIR MAKEOVERS have been a scream and I will continue to do so as I finish Texas and Louisiana.
Now to learn more about my book club, The Pulpwood Queens, go to www.beautyandhthebook.com. To see what is happening on the book tour trail, go to www.pulpwoodqueen.com for photos, blogs, news features, and more! I also do a blog for www.southernauthors.blogspot.com and posting I believe there this coming week.
When I get home from book tour I'll try to answer all your wonderful messages individually. Thanks for reading my book too as this book was to get out in a big way that The Pulpwood Queens and I are on a mission to promote literacy, get the world reading, and help undiscovered authors get discovered in a big way. Nobody is really doing that so we are more than happy to do what we can to put good books in the hands of good readers.
God Bless You All this Sunday morning and pass the word! We would love to crown each and every one of you a Pulpwood Queen! Every woman deserves to wear a crown and I do believe that as readers we exemplify that we can be "beauty within" QUEENS!
