How Political Discussions works

Don't:

1) Don't use crude language.
2) Don't insult another poster.
3) Don't threaten or promote violence.
4) Don't post overly long messages (hardly anybody bothers to read them).
5) Don't post non-text material (YouTube, pictures, etc) in thread headers.
6) Don't flood the front page with your own threads.
7) Don't resurrect more than one old thread at a time.
8) Don't direct conversations starting on PD to continue on other groups or blogs.

Do:

9) Do clearly state your position.
10) Do respond to those who take the time to respond to you.
11) Do enjoy the give and take presented here.

Also, obey the eons TOU. The legal doctrine of Fair Use probably covers the posting here of material from other sources, but please recognize that source in your post and include a link if possible.

If you have any questions, PM me.

An additional word on Fair Use. The legal concept is layed out in 17 U.S.C. Note especially the two points of educational use and amount of the copyrighted work copied. To surmount these hurdles, simply (a) comment on the material you copy and (b) don't copy the entire work, extract the pertinent portion. And, as always, reference your source, preferably with a link to the document itself.

§ 107. Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use:

Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—
(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;
(3) the amount and substantially of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.

Palestine Center-Charter of Hamas

(The Palestine center sends aid through the Jeruselem Fund) Good reading for all Americans who want to make a tiny beginning to Understand. view link Page one: paragraph one;
Israel wll rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it as it had eliminated its predecessors. Another translation says. "until Islam nulifies.."
(nulify-to make into nothing)
(eliminate- remove, eradicate) two translations of the word by Palestinians
Other translations are slightly different but overall it says the same thing.

Introduction:....This is the Islamic Resistence (Hamas) which will reveal its face, unveil its identity, state its position, clarify its purpose, discuss its hopes, call for support to its cause and reinforcement, and joining its ranks.
Article two (page 2) The Islamic Resistence Movement is one of the wings of the Muslim Brothers in Palestine. The Muslim Brotherhood Movement is a worldwide organization, the largest Islamic Movement in the modern era.
Article 7,Page 3 Hamas is one of the links in the Chain of Jihad in the confrontation with the Zionist invasion. I links up with the setting out of the Martyr Izz adin-al-Qassam...who fought in the holy war of 1936 ( goes though all the wars, and in other places back to Saladin and the Crusades al up to today.) The time will not come untill Muslims will fight the Jews and kill them; until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry; O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him.....

( tells some History, about the three circles who are obligated to use jihad and whatever to destroy Israel, Freemasons, Rotary Club, Lions club and all other Zionist organizations and bring about the Resurrection and Paradise.)

Page 4 article 13: Talks about how all peace talks go against their interest and are nothing but childsplay and a waste of time.

Even if Peace were to come tonight all Palestinians, Israelies and most of the Middle East are so dehumanised it would take Centuries for any normal life or healing. 3000 years, maybe more, of War destroys a human mind. Such a good reminder to us to Stop all War. (and leave Religion out of Politics)

SAY No To War!!!

Rep. John Lewis (Ga.) and five co-sponsors have reintroduced controversial bill H.R. 1191.

The bill would allow persons opposed to paying for war to have their tax payments placed in a trust fund that would be spent for non-military purposes only.

The National Campaign for a Peace Tax Fund has been working on this legislation since 1971.

The bill was reintroduced due to the recent outcry by the Catholic Church over whether religiously-affiliated organizations should be required to offer free coverage for contraception in health insurance plans made available to employees.

Those opposed — most notably Catholic organizations — claim that this requirement would violate their freedom of conscience. Those who support it claim that exempting religiously-affiliated organizations would establish a religion over the rights of individuals.

The last time I checked, the Catholic church is opposed to war, too.
As that dialogue proceeds, I pray that the “respect for freedom of conscience and defense of religious liberty” also includes those whose conscience forbids us  from paying for war.

So far, it looks like birth control is a bigger no no to the Churh hierarchy than the murdering and maiming which war produces.

Greece In Flames

The masses in Greece aren't going to take it any more, "Enough is enough!" The world is waking up to the disparity between wealthy and not. The US banks are trying to help by infusing our tax dollars into their economy, but I don't think it's working.

The power of your vote...

We had a run-off election for City Clerk here this month. Although not supposed to be political, the local Republicans were trying their best at putting one of their own in – as they do for any and all decision making positions.

They were defeated – by one vote.

Can I say my vote made a difference?

Yeah!!!!!

25 Billion Mortgage Settlement

From: BBC News:

My thoughts are this is coming a little too late, and at a time when we are in an election year. They are just hoping this will just go away and the voting population will just forget and move on.

Insider Trading Bill

I heard this bill passed the Senate overwhelmingly.

I love the idea of that.

Do not know of any negatives in the bill, but This was one of the things that Kams and I agreed on would be good.

Anybody know more details or have any comments?

Who did we vote for?

A Mississippi state lawmaker sponsored legislation this week that would rename the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America."

State Rep. D. Stephen Holland introduced the bill on Feb. 7. According to the bill, the moniker would apply only to Mississippi.

Holland's bill provides that: "For all official purposes within the State of Mississippi, the body of water that is located directly south of Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties shall be known as the Gulf of America ... The act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2012.

Anyone else got any other crazy laws some fool is trying to pass wasting time and tax dollars?
