Please note that I've started as manager in group titled Caring for Disabled Adults, formerly called Caring for Adults.
This group, Parents of Adults, seems to be a cross-over and confusing which makes it hard for someone to know where to jump in.
Anyone checking out this group, please go to Parents of Disabled Adults which I'm trying to get going with new members. Would love to hear from you.

Adult Children
Hello, I'm the father of a 25 yr old young man who has multiple diagnoses including MR, asperger's, ocdd, etc... He lives in a group home, works for the provider and seems to be doing well at this point. Took a lot to get thru his behavior issues. Luckily the justice system didn't get involved. He moved out of our home into the system three years ago after a particularly bad incident. He is determined to live life his way which we feel is a good thing.
Adult child living at home
morning all. I have 23yr old daughter living at home. Non verbal, baby signs, lots of grunts or pointing. Born with Cri-du-Chat Syndrome, diagnosed with Scoliosis at 18 mo, Kyphosis at 18 years, and Autisimal Delition Syndrome at 17 years. Mobile, only in wheel chair when weight drops, currently at 165 lbs and very inactive as far as exercise, but cant seem to sit still long, just doesnt move fast enough to get weight off. I started providing daycare services for children in our community when she was 8 years which has helped her develop from 18 mo tonow 3-4years mentally. Recently removed her toys (pool rings) because she chews on them to roughen up edges then digs holes or scrapes holes in her skin. Also self mutilates by picking digging and biting her skin. Would love self-entertainment ideas for her.
question for everyone
Just wondering if there are any caregivers for adult children that were injured in accidnt & now have brain injury or paralysis?
I am the full time care giver of my adult son that was in a M/c accident almost 3 years ago.
Just curious thanks for reading!

Nightmare
Here is a parent's worst nightmare. A wheelchair bound non verbal young lady was abused by a caregiver in New Baden, Illinois and died from the abuse. How sick. What can parents do?
New Group
Hello to all members of Eons! I am the parent of a 23 year old mentally retarded daughter. My duaghter is also mildy physically handicapped and currently lives in a group home. There must be other parents in Eons who have special needs children who are now adults. We all have worked hard with them to this point in life. Of course, it is a never ending process. I thought that this would be a good place to share ideas from location to location as well as share support. Whoever you are and where ever you live, I am looking forward to hearing from you.
