I own a piece of property in Costa Rica and plan to build a home on it. If I should choose to sell, is there a problem in getting my money back to the US? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for banking in Costa Rica?
I thought I'd share a bit of information that many people often don't consider. Many countries will require you to be eligible for a visa. I personally only know about Europe and Australia. Your retirement income must be extremely high in order to obtain a visa.
So please always check into visa requirements before making any plans to up and move to another country. I've been active on expat forums for years and I'm amazed at the number of people who think they can simply live anywhere they choose. They are often heartbroken when it's something they'd planned for years but had done no research. It's as hard to get a visa for many countries as it is to get one for the US.
