Please share experiences

Hi, I know this group hasn't been active, but would anyone care to post more info about their expereiences....cost of housing, food, etc.

My husband would like to explore the idea of retiring out of the country, particularly if it's very cost effective.

Thanks.

Ready to retire - but what country?

My husband and I (he is retired0 are ready to go some place--but where. What are the tax and residence ramifications. I would also like to return to the U.S. for approx. upto 6 months of the year. But if we return, how best to get and pay for REASONABLE health insurance throughout the year (regardless of when we are over seas).

I have read International living and just subscribed to their newsletter. All information and suggestions can only be helpful.

USA Today Interview??

Hi,

My name is Tim and I’m an official member of the public relations team for InkHouse. You may have seen last week but an Eons member, “BunnyFartsLynda,” was recently featured on the front page of USA Today for a story on boomers dealing with the current bad economy. We’re actually working with another USA Today reporter who’d like to talk to an Eons member who’s recently retired (two years) or planning on retiring in the next few months. The reporter wants to learn if anyone is adjusting their retirement plans due to the current economic downturn.

I was wondering if anyone in this group is retiring or already retired and have to alter your plans because of the economy? The reporter is looking to speak to a source ASAP on Wednesday so please let me know if you can connect with her.

Best,
Tim

Invest, Retire or Relax Overseas

More Senior living citizens are looking for properties Overseas these days either to invest or retire. Most of them are interested in beachfront properties where they can relax and enjoy their retired life. Cost of living, health insurance all these are becoming more expensive and senior citizens are choosing low cost living by purchasing properties overseas. Some senior citizens are also looking into second homes or vacation homes overseas. More expats are travelling to their hometown and willing to settle for a relaxed retirement.

How do I know this....
I am a Realtor and an International Real Estate Consultant member of ICREA, NAR and can help you buy beachfront properties or city living in Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, UAE, Spain, Morocco, Egypt, India etc. I can provide you tons of information about a particular market and can update you on the emerging market overseas.

Did you know that developers in Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico and DR can arrange for your accomadations, food, entertainments FREE of charge for 3-4 days? Yes they do!!!

contact me for more if you have any questions on Investing or Purchasing Real Estate Overseas.

Which country?

I found International Living's list of countries that the are on "their radar screen." The list includes Argentina, Croatia, Ecuador, France, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Romania, Spain, Thailand.

Here is the link.....http://www.internationalliving. com/about_il

Looking over the list I was surprised that Belize, Costa Rica, Czech Republic were not on there. I had expected Belize, Czech Republic, and Costa Rica to be on there. I also started thinking of what countries had I not expected to be on the list that might be worth exploring, such as Africa, Morocco, the Philippines, Nepal, Cambodia, India, or Vietnam.

Here is the link to my blog where I am keeping track of what I find.....http://globalretirementvillage. blogspot.com/

Options

Hi!

I just joined this group, and am beginning to explore other options since Social Security is such a joke. I am considering relocating to another country in order to live as comfortably as possible on the little that I make. I am open to areas (except the Middle East, thank you), and had thought about Australia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Central or South America. Any info on these places would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
