Yesterday I found myself being a total jerk about someone. That goes against most things I believe in and goes against the way I try to project myself. So, I will admit I acted like a hypocrite and a jerk to boot.

Having said that, this type of behavior seems to be the norm now is our society, only most people don't fess up. Examples, politicians and many religious leaders. And the list is endless....do you think this type of behavior is in our DNA and that is why it is so common? What do you say?

I just find myself laughing out loud right now. All of my adult life I have lived around conservative people. I grew up in the South and then I married and lived all over the world but my ex worked for the Department of Defense as a civilian, so we were surrounded by conservatives. My ex was conservative, as were my parents. When I found this group, I was so thrilled...my home...so many liberals. Little did I know that we are just as opinionated and just as dogmatic as everyone else. I once read in this group by a fellow liberal who was speaking to a conservative and she said, "But, we are right and you are wrong." I thought, "Wow." At the end of the day, we all die, and it is a fact we cannot get out of....I just wonder what difference it will all make. I belong to many political and human rights organizations and I will continue to but I must say that except for hate speech, I often wonder why we get our knickers all in an uproar....and that goes for me too...I am no exception....what do you think? I know people think ...I am just curious

For me hate speech can be used as weapon of violence, just like a gun....I am a supporter of freedom of speech but do we ever need to draw the line?

to all the Veterans in the group and thank you for everything you have done for our country. I wished my 86-year-old aunt a happy vets day. She is a Vet of the US Navy.

My mom made the best candy for the holidays. I sure miss it. Do you think that a lot of people still make homemade candy or is it becoming a lost art? Do you make your own candy?

Our resident poet.....for those that have been on NHB for awhile you will remember him and for those who have not, I hope you will wish him well anyway. He has been gone for sometime and I heard from him....he has been in a terrible motorcycle accident and he is just getting better....let us wish him well and a good recovery...I am not sure if he will be able to appear in NHB but I know he can read our good wishes....thanks everyone and have a great day!

I was listening to all this mess on health care and I was reminded that the average age to live in our country is 78 and since I am 61, I decided it is really time to lighten up. Which brought me around to thinking about my favorite sweets and ice cream is one of them....what sweet things do you like to eat? I also love cinnamon rolls and pie ala mode...other lovely things...how about you...the heck with worrying about too many things....having fun is also very important.....food can be fun...especially sweets...oh yes, a hot fudge sundae....
