Uppity
I've only known this word as an adjective used with one specific noun, a "slang" noun that isn't very pretty. It seems to be gaining popularity again, although that slangy word is left silent (although it is still only being used to describe people for whom that slangy ugly word might apply if one was a hater).
Is that your experience?

Perusing...
I was perusing the HuffPost because there was a link about Sarah attending 5 colleges in 6 years....Not too bright if you ask me. Anyway I was reminded of an incident in 1998.
It amazes me that McShame says that kids are off limits in this election. He certainly didn't think so in 1998 at a GOP fundraiser when he said something along the lines of “Why is Chelsea so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.”
I guess back then, children were fair game as long as it meant Republicans controlling the Congress and the Presidency.

When do people think you're old?
Sorry to get off of the politics, but this occurred to me today while I was making a peanut butter/jelly sandwich. About 10 or so years ago a friend of mine who lived down the street was having a yard sale and invited a bunch of neighbors to bring things too, so I did. We had a few bottles of Snapple tea and I brought those too.
One of the neighbors stopped by to visit and saw that we were just about out of beverages and heard us talking about making a run to the QFC grocery store to pick up some. A few minutes later she came back with a big pitcher of iced-tea for us. We thanked her and said that she really didn't have to go to all that trouble. Then she told us that for what we paid for one bottle of Snapple, she could make four bit pitchers of tea. We said that she was probably right, but when she left we all said that we didn't have time to make tea when we could just buy the bottles.
OK; now here's the relevance, if there is any. A bunch of gals from our bowling league were invited over to one of the gal's homes for lunch a couple of weeks ago. She just bought a new house and she wanted to show it to us. Anyway, her 5-yr old came in from playing and wanted a sandwich so she reached into the freezer and pulled out a frozen sandwich-like thing with peanut butter and jelly in it, tore off the wrapper and handed it to him. My reaction was, 'What was that? a frozen PBJ?' She looked at me like I was from Mars and said, 'Yes; they're so convenient.'
Looks like my generation was too lazy to make iced-tea (I make it now), and hers is too lazy to make a PBJ. I'll bet when I left she said something about how old I am.
