SKIN CANCER

Yep - after years in our great outdoors - yesterday I had a "spot" removed from my forearm and it was plain to both the doctor and me that it is cancer... Now what? He sent it away to have the diagnosis confirmed but with my many years in the medical field as a surgeon's assistant, he didn't have to say anything - I saw it and he agreed. Big Deal / No Big Deal... I don't know what to think. After years with tumors myself and then losing many friends and family members to various cancers - I am aware of the breast cancer, bone cancer, lung cancer and colon cancer... But the skin cancer issue is so new to me. Is it like breast cancer where there are over 250 different types? I know the inclusion of the lymph nodes in any cancer is not good. Where do I go for the latest help? I already eat alot of veggies and fruits (I lived in Calif. before moving to PA) and drink V8 and splenda flavored drinks instead of sugar (but I have a passion for Swedish Fish), and I eat very little red meat - mostly because I love good fresh seafood. I eat butter, not marjarine, have a good outlook on life as long as I am not having one of my severe hot flashes or depressed from my pain issues (I fractured my back in an auto accident 6 years ago), and I don't hold grudges and am eager to work out problems with others - easy to forgive them and move on. Anything anyone can say about the skin cancer issue will be more than I have now and greatly appreciated.

Thank you for listening,
Linda
