My Life in Ruins

Watched My LIfe in Ruins over the holiday. It was a heartwarming movie. It stars the same woman who wrote My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The scenery is beautiful and the story line light and easy to watch. I recommend this movie to all who enjoy a light hearted romance. And my husband even enjoyed it! (So it must be not too much of a chick flick!)

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Was this an animated cartoon for adults? We took our six year old grandson to see it, and there were so many "insider adult lines" that I know Luke didn't get. He nevertheless enjoyed it. I really think the script was written to fit George Clooney and not Roald Dahl's book. The characters, especially the three villains seemed to have been caricatures of people....their facial characteristics were so distinctive. It wasn't bad, but you just couldn't fit it into any genre. Not at all a Christmas for kids film, although it had some entertaining moments....(You have to love George Clooney movies, though).

The kids in the audience didn't laugh at the funny lines, which is a sure indication that the lines weren't written for them.

Unforgiven

William Munny (Clint Eastwood): "It's helluva thing killing a man. You take away all he's got, and all he's ever going to have."   view link

Little Bill (Gene Hackman) : "Well, sir, you are a cowardly son of a bitch! You just shot an unarmed man! "

William Munny (Clint Eastwood): "Well, he should have armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend." view link

Holiday Movies

What's your favorite holiday movie? I love Jean Shepherds "A Christmas Story"

"You'll shoot your eye out." The scene in the Chinese restaurant when the dogs ate the turkey. The boy beating up the bully. The sweet mother's reaction when the "leg lamp" was placed in the front window. The fantasy in the classroom and the reality of the teacher's reaction to the boy's essay. Just a tender and lovely holiday movie about a family.....probably Jean Shepherd's memories of his own childhood.

Paul McCartnery Thanksgiving Night

I enjoyed this show so much. Paul was always my favorite and I thought he was just awesome. I taped the show and will play it again.
Brings back so many memories, he was just one of the many voices in our lives.
He seems like the sweetest person and always has.
I loved it when he dedicated MY Love to his late wife Linda.
What a guy! What a show and he and Billy Joel really rocked it.

Was dragged kicking & screaming...

Last weekend was my birthday and my boyfriend thought it would be nice to take me to the movies. Didn't matter that I really had no desire to go - he was determined to do something "nice" for me. I used to go to the movies once a week - but since we have been together ( a long time now) - we have been to the movies maybe five times.
I gave up asking to go some years ago and now watch films at home.
Anyway - he picked the time and theatre - I would get to pick the movie. Well of course nothing that I wanted to see was playing at the time he wanted to go.
So we ended up seeing 2012 and let me tell you - that was one long movie!! Really long!
It was OK, not what I expected. I actually did enjoy the experience of going to the movies once I got there but he did have to drag me!
And it was very costly and the movie took so long that my birhtday dinner ended up being fish tacos at a little joint by the theatre! I guess that it is the thought that counts!

Godfather Trilogy

AMC TV had a non stop showing of these great movies. Despite the commercials, it was a wonderful time.

Life Time Movie Personnal Effects

The Movie was Personnal Effects.
It was about grief. Aston Kutchber and Kathy Bates were in it and Michelle Pfiffer.
I thought it was going to be such a good romantic movie. Parts were good but there was just something missing to make it good and I liked all the actors.

I think it was something in the story line.
That just didn't fit right for me.

If you saw it give me your opinion of whether you liked it or not.

Just wondering!
