I would like to welcome everyone to Memory Lane. This is a place where everyone can come to relax and remember those wonderful days of old. Fridays will be video day and you can post all of the videos that you want. You may also post memories in written form if you wish. On the other days you may post videos occasionally. If you have many videos to post on these days please do one on the front page and the others as a reply to the one you posted on the front page. this way we can all have a litte bit of what we want. Do you have any fears or phobias that you just can't get over? Have you ever sought professional help to get over them?

I dont have any actual fears or phobias...I dont particularly like being in closed spaces....Claustro-phobia. Don't like elevators....especially if they are over-crowded.
l'm not real fond of bugs....I know there is a Phobia name for this, but not exactly sure what it is called.

I just go about my days/nights and try not to be scared of things. And have never had a reason to seek help to get over any of this stuff.

The name "Rat Pack" was first used to refer to a group of friends in Hollywood, including the young Frank Sinatra. Several explanations have been offered for the famous name over the years. According to one version, the group's original "Den Mother," Lauren Bacall, after seeing her husband (Bogart) and his friends return from a night in Las Vegas, said words to the effect of "You look like a goddamn rat pack. "Rat Pack" may also be a shortened version of "Holmby Hills Rat Pack," a reference to the home of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall which served as a regular hangout.

Friends of ours (snow birds) just arrived here in Florida yesterday for the Fall-Winter months. I watch their house for them for the 6 months they are up North in PA. For the favor, they bring me some foods that I am unsable to get here and we always look forward to receiving the goodies.

This got me thinking of how diverse the foods we grew up on at home were and how different from what we are accustomed to today as we grow older. Regional dishes and ingredients, different ethnic backgrounds, aquired tastes... all play a role in what we eat as Americans.

This time our "care package" consisted of several rings of real butchershop home style Bologna, 2 Old English Cornish Pasties (beef, potato and onion turnovers), 2 bags of Unique Splits Old Fashioned PA Dutch Pretzels and a PA Dutch wet bottom molasses crumb pie! The taste of home... here in Florida!

Thinking back; as a child, name one or several of your favorite food memories...be it a certain dish, an ingredient or a complete meal. This time of year with the holidays coming, that should be easy!
