The Santana Winds
Folks here in N. Baja are nervous this time of year, when these hot winds come roaring in from the Northeast, creating their own fires from the friction of dry brush and wreaking havok in S. California and N. Baja. Last year's fires were horrendous in San Diego County. The sky turns an ugly and ominous yellow color and you can literally feel, in the air, the winds before they even get here. Everyone gets sick when the Santanas blow due to the crap blown in from elsewhere. The Santanas are a possibility this weekend, and they are an annual event from September through November. When they blow they only last a couple of days or so, but those days are miserable with all the dust in the air; many of us wear a bandana over our faces during those days.
VIVA MEXICO!!!!!
I just returned from almost 2 solid months of being away from home (Ensenada, Baja Norte, Mexico) and a full two weeks of that time was spent in the SF Bay Area. I've never been so glad to cross the border in my life and come HOME! The prices, the people, the friendships, the social manners....TANTO ESTA MEJOR AQUI! (It's all better here)! I immediately relaxed and took a nice hot shower to wash ass the U.S. stress off of me. GAK
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
It's wonderful to see so many new people here from all over the place! I'm in Montgerrey Mexico at the moment, working. I'll be here for a total of 3 weeks. Hurricane Dolly is bringing a bit of rain, but nothing catastrophic, which is a big relief!
