Priorities
I realize this is a largely rhetorical question, but why is it that the Federal government can promptly cough up over 700 BILLION dollars to bail out a bunch of greedy, dishonest money changers but cannot allocate more than a pittance for education, infrastructure, the environment, health care, law enforcement, schools, the homeless, the elderly, the poor and a host of other issues that are the direct and obvious needs of "we the people" of the United States. Isn't that what the government is supposed to serve? Something is terribly, terribly wrong here. As my grandfather used to say, "A fish rots from the head down."
Thank You Mr. President
Thank You Mr. President
I never vote for idiots
it just turns out that way
inevitable products of
the eternal flirtation
between the fool with the liar
the hopeful with the nihilist
whisper sweet doctrines in my ear
you smooth-talking handsome
manicured millionaire man of the people
tell me what I want to hear
and I will worship you
for now
then sacrifice you
to the gods of disappointment
and let you go your way
with my money
and my dreams
like a jilted lover
cruising political night clubs
for the next Mister Goodpolicy
promise me anything
as long as it’s convenient
and I can still be right
I can’t be part of the problem
while participating
in placing the blame
