Margaret Coel
has a whole series of mysteries set on the Wind River Reservation in central Wyoming. List in the first reply -- I highly recommend this author!
Nero Blanc
I'm currently reading an odd little book called The Crossword Murder. So far it has at least one strike against it - the affected names. The guy who gets killed in the third chapter is Thompson Briephs - don't think I'm being a spoiler with that tidbit - the private eye who is called in is Roscoe Polycrates, who has an ex-partner named Al Lever --- it goes on.
Anyone ever read anything by this author before?

...has a great Victorian cozy series about Mrs. Jeffries. I know I've mentioned it before, but I'm currently reading one of the later ones and thought I'd put in a plug. More info in the first reply.

Just finished Mistress of the Art of Death and will be starting the sequel tomorrow. Set in 1171, very interestingly done. The title character is a "doctor of bones" from Barcelona who is sent for by the King of England, Henry II -- and who just happens to be a woman. While solving a series of horrendous crimes, she must conceal her expertise from the English villagers or be branded and executed as a witch.
Also read a couple of Margeret Coel and a Robert Crais, may post those later. Hope everyone had a good holiday and has most of their shopping done!

New group icon
You may [or may not] have noticed that MM&M's icon is changed on your Eons or your profile page today. I'm trying to highlight books by different members of MM&M who are published authors. So far we have honored Carolyn Haines [Sept to Oct], Susan Whitfield [Oct to Nov] and our current icon is from Beth Groundwater. If you have or are a candidate, please post pictures to our group pictures -- that's where I'm getting the icons from. Thanks!
Spenser - A Savage Place
Just finished this by Robert B. Parker. It is older, but turns out it is an important one in the series -- this is the one with Candy Sloan, who Spenser counts as a failure and refers to often in later books
Charlaine Harris
Finished the 4th in the Lily Bard series last night - Shakespeare's Councellor. The personal story is certainly moving on and the murder mystery was enough to keep me [at least] guessing for most of the book. Had it figured, but then there was a twist right at the end.....
Dorothy Gilman - Uncertain Voyage
Remember Mrs. Pollifax anyone?
Same author, but definitely NOT Mrs. P. This one is about an external journey and an internal journey at the same time. I found it interesting reading and it had a good ending. Recommended
