OCTOBER 12th - Columbus Day
We should be celebrating Christopher Columbus Day, tomorrow by flying our flags and hoisting a few glasses to the ancient mariner!
I know, the government recognizes the holiday on Monday as the others, but I still consider it on the 12th, each year.

Hubby Had Steak, But I Had Clam Chowder!!
I've been dying for some clam chowder for days. So today, I bought the clams, turkey bacon, onion, I had red potatoes that I dug out of the garden, half and half and went to work. After it was all cooked, I thickened it using a rue made with smart balance butter and the clam juice. Lots of black and white pepper, a little sea salt and oh my, it is heaven. I made enough to freeze in small bowls. So how about you? New England Style or Manhattan Style?

While we were away last month, I borrowed a martini glass from my son and parteeeed! Can't have a martini without a proper glass. And you know the martini did it's job when you take a photo of your next one!
