The Judging Has Started

If your profile has been nominated for the contest, please respect the deadline and don't make any more changes.

From a practical point of view, I've already started my first pass through all the profiles. I may have already taken a look, and any changes you've made will NEVER BE SEEN.

1000 Members

jimid is our first 1000th member.

First?

Yeah, cause when someone leaves, the number drops, and then the next person becomes number 1000.

I suspect we'll have 3 or 4 1000th members before we stay over the mark.

MySpace Code Creates MySpace Ad On YOUR Profile

I'm pasting this from the Eons Advisors groups, because many people want to use MySpace backgrounds on Eons.

This is what happened to one Eons member:

"Is there a way to stop the "MySpace" blinking messages that are blocking the posts as we try to read them? I couldn't even get to the top of my screen to click on "My Eons" because their blinky ad was in the way. I have no desire to visit myspace and would like to see their ads more contained so that they don't interfere with our mobility in this community. Currently, they have two blinking ads, one on each side of the screen. VERY ANNOYING!

If we can contain them so they won't be in our way, that would be great. Thanks."

Here's what tallbob (Eons Staff) told them:

"These messages are caused by Eons members. If you come across graphics that interfere with navigation or advertising, please tell Customer Service about it. If you know who caused it, tell them, too. Or tell the relevant group or profile owner.

Often, people inadvertently cause this by copying some piece of html and css code into their postings -- code that was designed for My Space. Usually, it is not intentional. Nonetheless, it is a violation of our Terms of Use and an administrator will need to delete the post (or profile data) that's causing the problem."

Using your Eons Photos on Eons.

You DO NOT need to have your photos stored anywhere except Eons.
There is no need to use Flickr, photobucket or any other photo sharing site if you have uploaded your photos to Eons.

How to use your Eons photo in a message or a reply.

1. Upload the photo you want to use to your Eons account.

2. From your Eons account, choose "Photos", and then click on the picture you want in the message so that it comes up on its own page.

3. Right click the picture, and select "Properties" from the menu.

4. A window will appear, with "Location" as one of the properties.

5. Be sure you extend the window so that you can see the complete location URL. If you can't see the ending .jpg you do not have the complete location.

6. Copy and paste the complete URL into the code below in place of all the Xs.

7. DO NOT change anything else in the code below or you risk messing up the whole page because of image size.

8. Select and copy the new code.

9. Go to the group where you want to use the photo.

10. Either click the "reply" button on the correct message, or start a new message.

11. Paste the new code into the message or reply where you want the photo to appear. Be sure you start with the left bracket < and end with the right bracket >.

12. Click the "Preview" button to be sure everything looks correct.

13. Click the "Post" button to post the message or response.

Text Box Widget?

I was trying to figure out how to place a long quote in my profile. I hate the About Me quotations because everything in About Me turns into a meaningless link.

Has someone created a bit of HTML Code that could be placed in the Widget area that would allow me to type in a piece of text with line breaks in the right places?
