WELCOME TO OUR GROUP

Photobucket

Welcome to Through The Garden Gate............in case I miss anyone with a PM you are all welcome here. We will try to answer questions and encourage you all to share your pictures and ideas. Think about when the garden is all put to bed for winter and what we can do through those long months without the garden to work in. We can make things from our gardens to keep and give as gifts..........jams and jellies, dried flowers, wreaths.....share everything that you love with us here and dont forget those ideas for decorating too.

Spring Bulbs,,,,,

Photobucket

I did not plant bulbs last Fall. Today I was walking through the store and as we walked by the flower section I could smell the Spring flowers. I was tempted but as they were the same sections as the balloons we hurried on by because we had Tristen with us, he loves balloons. I think next time I go in to a store I will get some daffodils and hyacinth they smell so divine. I put them in the garden after and they seem to do well and come back the following Spring. In fact they have spread.

reviving plants...........

I have one plant that has been overwatered. Its leaves going yellow and dropping. I can not repot it at the moment. Any idea how to save it?
What I am going to do today is to take it to the kitchen and cut off the branches that the leaves have fallen from. Have a good look at it and see if it will survive. At this point I do not have any new dirt to repot it. During the holidays it got watered more than normal. I have a few plants that will require some assessing today. Including my African Violets. I also tend to forget that plants do have a life span...............does anyone know anything about that. When is a plant "old" and beyond saving?

art foam pretty

Photobucket

I made this little dooie using craft foam. Green, then I used oil pastel chalk to create a better finish. All the supplies were from craft foam and some pipe cleaners for the coiled wire. I used a felt tip ink pen for lettering and outlining.
I found this image in a craft magazine and wanted to try to duplicate it. They had used wood and craft painting.

I will seal it with clear spray paint and hang it on my balcony wall near my summer plants.

IT's here............

The January thaw, its here. We only just got snow and its melting. Fifty degrees today. If it stays this way through the weekend I may be able to go out and begin to clean up a bit. Not a lot but maybe some trimming back and pulling old stalks and seed pods,
Anyone else getting the bug...............roll on SPRING!!!!
