Horses
I just joined the site. I have horses and dogs and live in the sand hills where there is alot of ranching where horses work hard. Mine do not. They are spoiled and just stand around and eat. They like me are getting older and so we just enjoy the everyday beauty of life.
Rescue- Horses
Howdy Ya'll
I'm a spotter for abused, and neglected horses. Nine years ago I adopted a rescue horse. He raced at the early age of 3 yrs. He went down with the sulky, and broke a leg, that wasn't ever taken care of. Bone spur,
stifle, and not good on trails. I retired him to my pal in the pasture. He is very smart , he knows what I'm saying to him.
Will kiss me when I arrive and again when I leave. Loves, watermellon only the red part, I am riding him on his good days, which I see a great improvement in his attitude, for the best. He has been through alot of misery then, now he enjoys life to the fullest!

Hi group....new here
Hi
I just came upon Eons today, and joined!
I started late as a horse person, I grew up in NY and really was never around horses. However, my husband and I bought an old PA farm house years ago, and started boarding horses! Thats when my love affair began!
I love horses, just being around them makes me smile. The smell of the barn is like perfume (usually if stalls are cleaned) lol
I have a warmblood mare, dark bay. She is showing first level dressage. I have been having some health problems, so I just decided to half lease her for awhile to keep her in training.
I live in Florida now, and its just too darn hot in the summer here for me to ride! I love the winters though.
Would enjoy communicating with others who love horses.
Looking forward to hearing from some of you.

Pet Therapy
Good Morning MomWeasley ..
Took at look at your site today & just wanted to say your horses are gorgeous!! We’re looking to add a Silver Bay and a Black & White Pinto to our gang .. I’m not into buying for blood lines as much as I am for the overall appearance of the horse .. It has to have a gentle face & eyes .. I’ve been blessed with the Spirit of St. Francis & I can tell just by looking at the eyes of an animal what it’s going to be like in the future
Originally I wanted to raise the mini’s for guide animals until it hit me in the head that you really need to have MANY years of experience to train any animal for guide animals .. People are putting their lives in trust to these animals therefore you need to be the best trainer available so the people KNOW they can trust their guide .. Once I realized that I might have all the love & desire to raise guide horses – I did not have the experience it required .. So I looked at what I “had” & what I knew and Pet Therapy was something I could do .. I want to train the horses to all put carts .. to love human contact and to be as gentle as can be so that everyone can experience these amazing little creatures!!
Our farm name is Hobbit Horse Shire Miniatures and our motto is “A Little Bit of Horse for Everyone!” .. Right now we only have 2 because our property is small .. We are looking for 20-25 acres so we can grow our herd .. I want to have not just the mini horses but also a miniature cow, donkeys & goats along with dogs & cats .. Finding affordable property isn’t easy these days .. I keep hoping some Fairy Godmother will wave her wand & the perfect property will appear lol
Have a wonderful day!!

Florida horses
My husband and I are going to be in Florida the week after Christmas and would love to go to a horse sale. Does anyone know of any sales in central to northern Florida?
Miniature Horses
Hi All ..
My husband & I are both new to Eons & new to horses .. We've recently purchased our first two miniature horses and absolutely love them! We are hoping to train them as therapy pets .. We currently live in Central VA but are looking to relocate to a larger property where we can raise & train more horses!

Hi
I love talking horses. I started riding in 1960 when I got my first pony for my birthday. I started training for the public when I was in high school and have kept it up to some degree ever since.
I also give lessons mostly to either very young girls or to "older" people who have always wanted a horse.
Right now we have 9 horses. Dakota, Pinto gelding. 11 years and just grey now tho he was black and white when he was much younger. Glow is Dakota's daughter. She makes me wish I hadn't gelded Dakota so soon. She's big and a bay tobiano. Brio is a "free" horse. He was supposed to be a pinto mare but when he came out a solid colt he was given away. He's 3/4 Arab and was so small we thought he'd remain pony sized. He's 5 and 14.1. I would have thought he'd never make more than 13.1.
Melly is a reg. shetland mare who is my grandson's pony. Shelby is my lesson pony and she presented us with Chance last year. He was a surprise! Shelby is sorrel and about 13.2 Chance is chestnut and will be bigger than his mom.
Princess is another freebee. She needs lots of help to become a good pony. I don't have enough time for her but it's impossible to find a good home for her so she stays. Jack is another lesson horse. He's a 16.2 few spot appaloosa gelding who is a great grandson of Secretariat. Then Honey is the last. We've had her about 8 months. She's a little QH mare that I broke for some people about 4 years ago. They never rode her after I sent her home and just gave her to me this spring.
They keep me busy!

What horses did for me
I'm 50 now and started riding English 2 years ago. I had never ridden before that except western at summer camp as a kid. But I've always liked horses -- didn't really know why, I just did. So I started taking lessons. The place I went to only taught English, so I thought "why not?" It turned out that most of the people who took lessons there competed in hunter-jumper events. So of course, I got sucked in. My trainer entered me into schooling classes without my knowledge. I was scared to death ---- I had only been riding a few months. She entered me in the trot-a-pole event and I only tried it for the first time the night before the competition. I came in 3rd, and won first place in the walk-trot event. I continued competing and loved it. Through this experience I learned how to face my fears and find a way to hurdle obstacles in my life. I had no idea how much I had let fears control me and let insecurities act as a wall I couldn't get past. One time I had an accident riding --- fell off my horse as we were galloping around the ring and rammed my head (fortunately I was wearing a helmit) into a barn post. Got a pretty bad concussion and whiplash injuries in my neck and back. 3 weeks later I competed again, and believe me, I was terrified to canter. But I did it. And I proved to myself that I was stronger than my fears. Horses changed me forever. I moved 1 1/2 years ago and haven't ridden since, and boy do I miss it.
just love horses
Hi group - I have always loved horses - since I can remember being alive. I graduated from nursing school at age 30 and bought my first horse at 34. I am now 54 and have had my current horse TWH mare for 14 years. She is everything I ever wanted in my dream horse. We ride trails and go horse camping across the midwest. She is my best friend and I could not imagine life without her. I never dreamed I would live on enough property to keep horses but that dream came true in 1989 when I moved onto 5 acres in northwest IN. I am truly living my childhood dream and would love to talk with others about their horses.
love horses?
Do all little girls fall in love with horses? I remember riding my bike 2 miles every day in the summer to feed a scrawny mistreated horse that I used to cry over. Living in the city, of course, there was no way I could have a horse. Now, as an adult, my dream to have a horse of my own is still alive and well! I will be teaching in Chicago this year (three to go to retirement!) and plan to find a place that will work with me on learning to care for a horse. My sons and I have 80 acres in Iowa, 50 in timber, but lots of pasture. I am so looking forward to loving and caring for my equine friends.
