This group is all about history of your area. Your family,s that had the iron will to live in this harsh unsettled land. Here you will find stories of settlers ,pioneers, miners, Indians and our war heroes Any thing historical that has formed our past, and our heritage
Tales that have pasted down from your elders.

Leaving In A Few Days!!!

The following people will be leaving for Oregon in just a few days. I put this together this list so you can get to know the people who your traveling with.a little better (from my imagination)

Now in the lead wagon will be our wagon master. Mr. Jay Hawk. Mr. Hawk was sheriff of a small town in Virgina for 40 years. He will be traveling alone. Will be available to settle disputes, and make major decisions, conduct weddings and church services on some Sundays and will be sure we all arrive in Oregon safely. Jay wants to head west to Oregon for the rich soil and wants to become a farmer. I understand if we have a shin dig he can sing and play a mean harmonica

Wagon number# 2 will be Bella. Bella will be in the gypsy wagon. She has two beautiful twin daughters Varsha and Marsha age 16 and I understand they are a heading to Oregon hoping to find rich husbands for her daughters.

At our first stage stop a few miles from here we will be joined buy a refined lady by the name of Sophie. Sophie is married to a mining Tycoon where she will be joining him in Oregon City, Oregon.

Wagon #3 we have Jimmy Dee and his wife Bessie. out of the Pocono Mts., of Pennsylvania. Jimmy hopes to open a mercantile when he get to Oregon. Jim is very handy and will be helping repair any break downs on the wagons. He brung all his tools and that is most handy. His wife is a fine cook, so I understand.

Wagon #4 Mr. Harpo hails from New Jersey. I understand he has plans of opening a newspaper office and maybe writing a book or two in Oregon territory. Speaks many languages.

Wagon # 5 will be a fine women by the name of Dr.Seeker. Finest horse back rider " for a women " I have ever seen, with her dog Jake at her side. " He once killed a wolf so it be told." She will be attending to your medical needs on the trip.

Wagon #6 Mr. Yichel and his wife Susan are from Germany They have 6 children. Ages from 2 to 19. Mr. Yichel and his wife are both teachers. They want to open a school in Oregon.

Mrs. Faith will be following up in the chuck wagon. Fine cook, and makes some of the best hardtack and beans best I ever ate. Bringing some of that fine wine she makes too.

"One Who Talks To Animals" will be our guide. She may be young but she knows this county and has made this trip many times before.

Our scouts for this trip:

Outlaw. Fine specimen of a man. Once killed a man in a card game that was cheatin and killed 4 Indians all by himself. The man could track a ant in the dessert.

The Rifle, as he is called is a crack shot with anything you put in his hand. Heard tell he once fought with with General Gage. Fluent in Indian sign language and spent some time amongst the Indians. Does love the lady's

Folks, I do feel we are in fine hands. Looking forward to the trip.

This is 1 of my favorite days in History. I live 20 miles from the College of William and Mary and spent many hours walking around the campus over the last 20 years . On this day in 1693 a charter was granted for the College. Beautiful historical place.
