WOW, I think I could write a whole book on retire now , never retire, retire rich, retire and work part time, what does life look like after retirement, and the list goes on. I personally retired from a 22 yr career at age 42 and I just turned 50. I was one of the lucky ones, well the harder you work the luckier you get is so true. My plan was to play golf and spend quality time with my family. I remember my boss who was 15 yrs older than I saying, Steve you can only play so many games of bingo and I said that may be true but I am going to find out. I had worked for a fortune 100 company for 22 yrs and had worked my way up the ladder to CEO of a 200mill a year company. Life is full of choices and I often say that youth is wasted on the young and wisdom is wasted on the old. I had reached a goal I had set out to obtain at a very early age. The problem was it did not look like I thought it would when I got there. Guess what, it never does, it always looks greener on the other side. I was working 15 hour days and stressing to the max when I was not there. In the corporate world enough is never enough, it’s always what have you done for me today. Fortunately I had another passion that stirred in me very early in my career that I also pursued on a part time bases. This passion was Real Estate. I had been investing in real estate for the whole time I had been employed. I realized one night that my 3 year old would not come to me because he did not know who I was. So, at age 42 because of my real estate investments I was able to say guys its been fun but its not been real fun and I am out of here.

It took me about 6 months to UN wind and realize what I had done. There were not a lot of 42 year olds playing golf every day, and I still had so much energy that needed to be directed in a positive direction. I have started several new companies and have learned so much over the last several years. I think the key is to continue to explore and learn. I have a company that now operates on its own and I only consult when necessary. I can be as active or as passive as I choose. I am also now able to pursue my real estate passion on a full time or part time basis also as time permits. This to me is the ideal way to be, quote: retired.

Signed
Having fun
