DNA
Has anyone done anything with DNA? I have a friend who is descended from William Brewster (as am I) and someone online asked for his DNA for a reason I can't remember. He was a little reluctant, not wanting to have his DNA hanging out there in public, but he finally did submit it. It might have been easier for him to do because he's a doctor. The results came back and they found that he is indeed descended from Wm Brewster, or related to this other person. Or something. I'm not being very clear, I think. I'm still not sure why you would want to do that.
Funny thing is, this guy is something like a 17th cousin to me and we look related. Has anyone ever heard of "The Brewster Grin?" We both have it and so do all of my family.

My Project
This year, I decided I better do something with all the old photos I had. Some of them had been taken in the mid 19th century. I scanned them all into my computer, then assembled them by family into an album. I had so many pictures and information that some of the families had two, three or four pages. I also included family stories that I had been told. I figured since I am the last of my generation living, with the exception of my brother, I better do it or it all would be lost.
I uploaded the first page f the album, in the group's photo section. It's my father's family. I went through the whole family, all four grandparents (one great-grandparent!), made four pages for my brother, three for me and at the very end included my four kids. The album has 54 pages. I made one for each of my four kids and one for my my brother who is in a nursing home. Now, I just have to finish printing mine.
I gave them to my kids for Christmas. Guess who got the most excited by them... the wives! And my daughter. She's the one who convinced me I should do one for each family and she helped me put them together.
Now I'm going to put the real pictures in an album for safe keeping. Right now they have all been in shoe boxes.
This was really very satisfying to do. I was lucky in that my grandparents really had embraced the new technology, photography and I had lots of pictures.

Question?
Can someone tell me what Ap means? It often follows a single name ie: Richard Ap.

Newbie!
Hi all, I just joined because I have a friend on this site, littledoe. I'm also very interested in genealogy and have found new cousins in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Ohio. I am from Massachusetts but currently living in Maine. I'm going to start by adding my family names to the roll call, if I may.
I also have an account with Ancestry.com so I might be able to help anyone that needs help.
