A scary place...
There's a scary place on the internet and its url is worldnetdaily.com. A place for the religious right and the neocons to discuss the liberal agenda and conspiracy theories.
If there is a good place in the sludge I can't find it.
I did, however in the muck, find a link to the companies that scored a perfect 100 on the HRC's annual Corporate Equality Index there are 259 of them. It might be worth our while to give these folks our business. There's a lot of law firms on that list including two I've worked for in the past. One of which I was one of the people who worked on the LGBT policies.

New Member
Hi, I am new around here. I love meeting other lesbians and especially those of us who a little more life experience. I have been with my partner for 9 and a half years. I was very excited to hear about Melissa getting married. It brings a lot of attention to the issue and hopefully will help defeat California's proposed constitutional amendment. My partner and I are hoping to go out to California when we can and get married. It seems like an unbelievable dream to me. I am a long time Republican who finally saw the light with the 2nd term of George Bush. I am going to vote Democratic for the first time this year. I voted for Hilary in the primary but I am looking forward to voting for Obama.
Take care all and enjoy the debate.

Log Cabin Republicans
...endorsed John McCain (big surprise there). But I bet they didn't think that they would have to educate the party this IS the 21st century. Isn't it? I am still surprised when people I made a CHOICE to be a lesbian. Oh yeah, I love being considered one of the vilest humans on earth in the eyes of some people.
Log Cabin Republicans: “We know people don’t ‘choose’ their sexual orientation.”
In an interview with Katie Couric, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) said that one of her friends who is gay “happens to have made a choice” that Palin would not have made herself. In a statement to ThinkProgress, Scott Tucker, the communications director for the Log Cabin Republicans — a group that endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) — defended Palin, though he emphasized that his group would have to “continue educating all Republicans” about the fact that homosexuality is not a choice:
In this interview, Gov. Palin expressed her support for a gay friend of 30 years and reiterated that she doesn’t judge people. She said she’s ‘not going to judge Americans and the decisions they make in their adult personal relationships.’ Frankly, I think that’s where most Americans are in their attitude toward gay and lesbian people.
Gov. Palin didn’t ramble uncomfortably about a ‘lifestyle’ or use the opportunity to reiterate her opposition to marriage for gay couples. She didn’t use the opportunity to express opposition to any gay rights legislation. Gay Democrats are pouncing on her use of the word ‘choice’ in talking about gay people. But, when asked the direct question by Charlie Gibson in a previous interview whether people choose to be gay, she said she didn’t know. Again, I think that’s where the vast majority of Americans are on this issue-they simply don’t know whether people choose to be gay.
We know that people don’t ‘choose’ their sexual orientation and we’ll continue educating all Republicans about that issue.

Bail Out anyone
As you have seen the last few weeks, the big banks of wall street are now finding themselves in need of being bailed out, What caused all this? Bad home loans, the housing cost raised higher, and mortgage company's gave people not qualified the money to purchase them, now that the homes are in foreclosure, its the banks that have to absorb the loss, greed!
CEO's making millions in bonuses, the bonds that sold on the stock exchange, are no longer making money. I have a problem of bailing out big company's to the tune of $70,000,000,000. Do you know that with all that money they could give every American 18+, $275,000 each, we would have to pay taxes on the money of course, but we would build the economy ourselves, what would you do with $275,000, pay off your home? Buy new things, invest, it would bring the economy back into the black.
We dont see Mom and Pop grocery store owners, that now cant make ends meet having the government bailing them out. You dont see the government sending us money to help us live and paying our homes in full. Its time to let your Senator and Congressperson know, ITS NOT OK to bail out the greedy wall street fat cats. Whats your thoughts?

A new scam....
Would you fall for this one?
Dear American:
I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a
transfer of funds of great magnitude.
I am Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had
crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of 800 billion
dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most
profitable to you.
I am working with Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my
replacement as Ministry of the Treasury in January. As a Senator, you may
know him as the leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the
1990s. This transactin is 100% safe.
This is a matter of great urgency. We need a blank check. We need the funds
as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names
of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family
lawyer advised me that I should look for a reliable and trustworthy person
who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.
Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account
numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to
wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for
this transaction. After I receive that information, I will respond with
detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the
funds.
Yours Faithfully Minister of Treasury Paulson

Relationship ending
My partner of 16 years is ending our relationship. It is not because of another women and I know she still loves me as I love her. She does not know why she is doing it. It hurts so bad. Sometimes we each become people neither one of us recognize. We share a house together and right now neither one of us are moving out.
How does a person move on? I am not talking about finding another partner, just moving on with life?

Hey thanks!
Thanks for letting me in, Two! You are so supportive of my groups, I wanted to return the favor!
A New Look
Tomorrow, the beta version of the new group pages goes live. When you come to the group tomorrow, it will look quite different, and there may be a small learning curve as you figure out how to navigate around the group.
The clickable to post a new message will be on the right hand side of the page, under the set of buttons.
Any problems, PM me. But don't just PM me to complain about it. We all hate it. None of us wanted it. We are stuck with it, and we will be grownups about this and learn to make the best of it.
Remember, you CAN teach old dogs new tricks. Make me proud.

I was watching LOGO this last week and they hit upon an area that should hit all of us hard. With the Republicans are trying to voting people in that have been negative with the LGBT communities. The time has come, for us to take the horse by the reins and heed the call. Im talking about Ageing LGBT's, sure we can all get SSI, and since were not allowed to marry or civil unions that will grant us as a spouse, we will be better off by having SSI for both of us not just the one that paid in more. But SAGE brought up so many things that our community needs to start now. Care facilities for the LGBT, Retirement Homes for the LGBT, i for one do not want to live in a straight community home, where each day we are reminded that its still their world. We need to get involved and make sure each one of us will retire in a place where we are the main population, care facilities where our partners and ourselves can still share a apartment, and have access to medical care, given by our nurses and doctors or those that have no problem with working with us. I think i have brought this up a long time ago about a few of us building a community nears Seattle, where lesbians could come and put in a trailer or pre fab home, where all they had to do was pay a small amount for lot rent and pay the utilities. So far we haven't moved any further. But that hasn't stopped us from getting older. I know New Mexico has built condo's and sell them to gays and Lesbians, but i dont think many of us will have that kind of money, in less the economy changes, and right now it doesn't look good. I know also that Minnesota LGBT has started building a apartment complex. We cant depend on the straight world to care enough that we dont die alone and exist in a place, where we do not feel welcome.
One of my dreams have been for jeanne and i to have a place where we can live with others like us, have activities for us and 24 hour care if it is ever needed. So it is time for us to realize if we dont take care of our own who will? It was the LGBT communities that took the forefront when AIDS appeared, it was us that supported and demanded that money needed to be spent on a cure, and our money paid for care of those with the dreaded disease. If you follow channels like LOGOONLINE.com, every advertisement seen is one that the useful resources of LGBT money that has supported the cause. Breast cancer, St.Jude's, AIDS awareness, the list goes on and on. Its time we think of one more, Ageing Lesbians and Gays, Our brothers and sisters, the ones who lead the fight before us and those that will do the same after we are gone.
