Still Planning In My Head

Hello to all:

I am new to this group. I do belong to the Green Thumb Gardeners. You all should check out that one also.

I hail from Northern Utah. Our high today was 30!

Just last week all my flowers was poking thier little heads up and then it dumped 6" of snow on us.

I've got spring fever so bad I can't stand it.

I do have a question for Carrotsticks or anyone for that matter. Do you have to stake up Dahlias? I have never grown them but would like to try.
Would they grow in zone 3 & 4?

We completely dug up our back yard last year. It measures 78' X 100'. We would like to put in a patio some grass a dry creek bed and some raised beds.

I have osterarthritis and gardening is getting harder for me each year so we want to put in some raised beds that I can sit on and do my gardening.

I am afraid maybe even that might be to hard. I am 5' 3" tall and don't have a very long reach. Does anyone have any suggestions on how wide we should make them and out of what kind of material we could use so I can sit on it?

Boy we really need some ideas. I think we bit off more than we could chew!
