Where does he find the time?
Considering the mess he inherited, the one he continuously reminds us about, shouldn't he be busy fixing things rather than politicking?

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama, the leader who prods his critics to put politics aside, is doing anything but these days as he sets out to campaign for his party's future.
Barreling Tuesday into several days of frenetic political activity, Obama The Campaigner has work to do in helping raise money and rally loyalists for lesser-known Democrats.

Teachers...
I'm interested in what you have to say about the Prez addressing school children next week. Is it creepy or is it a teaching moment? Do you have the option of not viewing?
Parents and grandparents, your opinions are welcome as well.

What do you want to hear...
from President Obama in his State of the Union address tonight?
Generally, I think we all want to hear the truth and I believe that in spite of what Hollywood tells us, we can handle the truth. Winston Churchill style would be best.
Specifically I would like to hear Obama say that he has asked Timothy 'Too-Talented-To-Be-Honest' Geitner to resign his position.
How about you? What do you want to hear?

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama said Wednesday that heavy-equipment maker Caterpillar has informed him it will rehire some of the thousands of workers it has laid off in recent weeks if Congress passes an economic stimulus bill.

EAST PEORIA, Ill. - President Barack Obama's stimulus plan may be good for Caterpillar Inc., but the company's chief executive says the equipment maker will probably have to lay off more staff before it starts thinking about rehiring any of the more than 22,000 employees it already plans to cut.

Is this typical of the recipients of the stimulus package?

Smack down at Ohio nursing home
Poll workers from opposing sides in the presidential race apparently clashed in a physical altercation Friday at a Cuyahoga Falls nursing home when one accused the other of improperly marking a ballot.
George Manos, the 75-year-old Republican, told police that Edith Walker, the 73-year-old Democrat, jumped on his back and struck him in the head three to four times with her fists. Manos said two other elections workers had to pull Walker off his back, according to a report filed with Cuyahoga Falls police.
Manos said it happened after he accused Walker of ballot tampering, and he wants to prosecute.

Say what!?!
SAN FRANCISCO - Barack Obama raked $7.8 million Sunday at three separate fundraisers in San Francisco, telling a VIP dinner crowd — many of whom paid $28,500 to attend — that he would win the presidency in November but to expect a tough battle with Republicans in the meantime.
"John McCain, all he wants to do is talk about me," Obama told supporters. "They know they can't win on the issues. So what they'll do is they'll try to scare people:'He's risky. He's risky. We're not sure.'"
Obama was introduced at the dinner by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called him "a leader God has blessed us with at this time."

Could a Republican senator say this about McCain without severe criticism?

Poke at the Pope
Will Pope tackle illegal immigration on U.S. visit?
When Pope Benedict XVI visits with George Bush at the White House this week do you think the Head Catholic in Charge will whisper sweet nothings into the president's ear about illegal immigration?
It could happen.
Buzz is building on the eve of the historic papal visit. During his six-day tour Pope Benedict will hit Washington D.C., New York City and the United Nations. There will be lots of Masses with hordes of people. But the burning question for us on this blog is how will the Pope address illegal immigration?
How can he not talk about it? It would be like the Dalai Lama visiting Beijing and not mentioning human rights.
As we know, the Catholic Church passionately supports legalizing illegal immigrants. It played a huge role in the massive immigrant rights marches in the U.S. in 2006.
The church has much to gain from the immigration issue. (Like, American $$$$$$) Its ranks have grown significantly in the last 30 years in largely Hispanic Central American countries which have fueled immigration into the U.S.

Ingratitude? or...
Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what someone else's country can do for you.
Ana Puente was an infant with a liver disorder when her aunt brought her illegally to the U.S. to seek medical care. She underwent two liver transplants at UCLA Medical Center as a child in 1989 and a third in 1998, each paid for by the state.
But when Puente turned 21 last June, she aged out of her state-funded health insurance and was unable to continue treatment at UCLA.
This year, her liver began failing again and she was hospitalized at County-USC Medical Center. In her Medi-Cal application, a USC doctor wrote, "Her current clinical course is irreversible, progressive and will lead to death without another liver transplant." The application was denied...
..."It doesn't matter if I'm undocumented," she said. "They should take care of me at UCLA for the rest of my life because I've been there since I was a baby."

What good is the truth if nobody knows it?
"This ought to be big news. Throughout the early and mid-1990s, Saddam Hussein actively supported an influential terrorist group headed by the man who is now al Qaeda’s second-in-command, according to an exhaustive study issued last week by the Pentagon. "Saddam supported groups that either associated directly with al Qaeda (such as the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, led at one time by bin Laden’s deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri) or that generally shared al Qaeda’s stated goals and objectives." According to the Pentagon study, Egyptian Islamic Jihad was one of many jihadist groups that Iraq’s former dictator funded, trained, equipped, and armed."
