Welcome to the Group

Freedom of Speech is not a right per the TOU of this website. But, it does go hand in hand with personal responsibility and accountability. This is your group, and these are real people behind their avatar, so keep that in mind when you reply to a post. Remember the Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

We will delete or close discussions for the following reasons at FOS:

1. Posts that violate eons TOU. Read them when in doubt.
2. At the request of a member who wants his or her own post deleted for their own reasons.
3. When further discussion is not necessary and has been beaten to death.
4. When a new thread's subject is already being discussed.
5. We will delete replies to a post that we consider “baiting”, sarcastic or name calling and serve no purpose at all. Please remember this rule: “reply to the post, not the poster”.

PLEASE keep the initial post to a short paragraph or two. Put the rest in the first reply. This courtesy makes it possible to showcase many posts on page one – not just yours.

Joke !

God summons President Barrack Obama, Chinese Leader Hu Jintao and French President Nicolas Sarkozy to a meeting.
He then tells them that he has decided to end the world in 3 days and orders them to tell their people.
>
President Obama has a television speech to America and says, "I have good news and bad news. The good news is that there is a God. The bad news is that he will destroy the world in 3 days."
>
Leader Hu has a television speech to the Chinese people. He tells them, "I have bad news and worse news. The bad news is that there is a God. The worse news is that the world is going to end in 3 days and you're all going to hell."
>
President Sarkozy goes on television and tells the French people, "I have good news and better news. The good news is that there is a God and he spoke to me! The better news is that the European economic crisis will be over in 3 days."

Abbott & Costello !

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America .

ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It's 9%.

COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?
ABBOTT: No, that's 16%.

COSTELLO: But you just said 9%.

ABBOTT: 9% Unemployed.

COSTELLO: Right 9% out of work.

ABBOTT: No, that's 16%.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it's 16% unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, that's 9%...

COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE! Is it 9% or 16%?

ABBOTT: 9% are unemployed. 16% are out of work.

COSTELLO: IF you are out of work you are unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, you can't count the "Out of Work" as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!

ABBOTT: No, you miss my point.

COSTELLO: What point?

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn't look for work, can't be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn't be fair.

COSTELLO: To who?

ABBOTT: To the unemployed.

COSTELLO: But they are ALL out of work.

ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work stopped looking. They gave up. And, if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So, if you're off the unemployment roles, that would count as less unemployment?

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!
COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don't look for work?

ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That's how you get to 9%. Otherwise it would be 16%. You don't want to read about 16% unemployment, do ya?

COSTELLO: That would be frightening.

ABBOTT: Absolutely.

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

ABBOTT: Correct.

COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

ABBOTT: Bingo!!!

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to just stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you're thinking like an economist.

COSTELLO: I don't even know what the hell I just said!

And now you know why Obama's unemployment figures are improving !

So sad. So Tragic...

I can only pray that you all have found peace... And give thanks for all the great memories.

Rest in Peace my friends.

"Ask not what Obama can do for you".

"Ask what you can do for Obama"!

Make sense?

To me it does.

To you?

Debate last night

Not sure if anyone else saw the debate last night. I got most of it.

Apparently there was a question to open, given to Newt, that set him off and based on the replay I saw today, he blasted the CNN moderator and also ABC. He got what I heard was the first-ever standing ovation in the Rep debates.

Even some Fox moderators today were doing dog-pile.

Based on the re-play which was shown in its entireity to that question, I think Newt was right. Time to call out the media, call them to the carpet, and do a good, old fasioned, butt-chewing. Personally, some of the media folks (including the ones from ABC, CNN, and the ones from Fox that dog-piled) need to be put in front of a Navy Master Chief or Marine Gunny, so they can truly learn the error of their ways.

Otherwise the debate was good and everyone was strong. Eve Ron Paul did quite well.

Some may remember that last May I stated that I liked Cain's ideas even though I did not think he would win. I was proven right on that as was FW.

Side note, that Newt has had a lot of issues in his life, makes him seem more like a normal human to me than the usual pretty politicians like Mitt and Rick. I still have not decided, I will wait and see what happens when/if they come to CA.

Churchill ???

Churchill

The current plight of the Costa Concordia reminds me of a comment made by Churchill.

After his retirement he was cruising the Mediterranean on an Italian cruise liner and some Italian journalists asked why an ex British Prime Minister should chose an Italian ship.

“There are three things I like about being on an Italian cruise ship” said Churchill.

“First their cuisine is unsurpassed. Second their service is superb.
And then, in time of emergency, there is none of this nonsense about women and children first”.
