Health Care Reform

Senator Reid and the rest of the Dems will try and force a health care bill on us by Christmas that no one has any idea of the cost or what's in the bill.

Even as 56% of people polled were against the bill and the former leader of the Democrat Party and a physician is against the bill.

Now we hear that even Moveon.org, that far right conservative roup is asking all its members to call their Senators and stop passage of this bill.

If this is such a good thing for the population, why must it like all the other spending bills be pushed through in a hurry before the sky falls. By the way, if you look up, the sky is just fine.

Seniors and Obamacare

For the first time in history, the Democratic Congress will not allow an increase in the social security COLA (cost of living adjustment), YET voted themselves a 'cost of living' raise. In the midst of a serious recession! This is NOT Democratic congress people's money...it is money the Seniors have paid into out of their own paychecks for all the decades they've been working. In fact, The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation predicts there may not be any COLA for the next three years. They're robbing older people...like Chicago street thugs.

However, the per person monthly Medicare insurance premium will be increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2010 and to $120.20 for the year 2011.

Next will come cap and tax, and giving citizenship to 20,000,000 illegals.

Congrats to Obama

This group is very quiet about the Presidents speech at West Point so I'll start by offering my opinion. I am pleased that the President only took 90 days to come up with his decision. I am pleased to learn that our President knows more about military tactics and strategy than the Generals he put in charge. I'm pleased that he looked at Bush's play book and decided that a surge in Afghanistan might work as well as the one he wouldn't acknowledge worked in Iraq. What I don't like is his lack of passion and emotion in his speech. I am also not pleased with the way he tried to cover his ass by announcing that we will start withdrawing 18 months after we get there. This is the first war that has an end date that we've announced. I am not peased that the rest of the world is scratching thier heads trying to figure this President out

One thing that has come out of this campaign speech of his is that he now owns it. Like I've said before, this will be his Viet Nam. Even Newt is praising Obama

Just wondering

I understand the rights opinions and concerns about allowing the terrorists from Gitmo a Civil Trial but I haven't heard much justification from the left. What better place to come for that than here?

Since they are being tried as criminals with all the rights of an American citizen, and sincethey were never read their Miranda Rights, how do you propose they will be prosecuted. Also since our President and Attorney General admit that the U S used torture, how will any evidence obtained be allowed?

Why when President Obama was Senator did he say that these terrorists should be tried by the military is he now saying they should be tried with full constitutional protections? What is there to gain by using the court system and not the military?

Let's try and answer this without blaming Bush.

Could this be Obama's straw?

I thought that Afghanistan might hurt his re election. I thought that unemployment, and the high deficit, and the poor housing market, and the bailouts, and the trillion dollar health care bill, or cap and trade would hurt him. All of this might be true, but I think this will hurt him the most. Maybe not with his base but with the huge percent that call themselves Independants.

As I have asked before, what is his upside in this decision?

Obama's report card

After more than 250 days in office is this the change we can believe in?

Unemployment...at a 23 year high
Deficit....at an all time high
Iran...let's drop sanctions even though we threatened them.
Afghanistan...what is our plan? what is our exit strategy?
why after 250 days will it take another 3
weeks to decide on strategy?
Health Care Bill..who pays for it?
Cap and Trade...who pays for it?
GM.......closing saturn division, more jobs to be lost.
Chrysler..looking at bankruptcy after being bailed out.

Tax increases...you betyou..how else do pay for all this?

If you can all be honest, (except Charles) is this what you thought when you voted for him? That's a rhetorical question.

Fox News

Whatever your opinion is of Fox News, here is a poll from NPR that you can take as to whether you think Fox is right or the White House is right. Interesting results.

Just checking in

So I leave this group and the best you all can do is muster up a post that's 14 days old? At least I initiated some give and take.

The jobs stimulus bill

Looks like the stimulus package that was rushed through is working just fine.

view link

I wonder what would have happened if we did nothing? Wasn't it the President who said if we didn't take bold and swift action the unemployment rate would hit 8.00%? That HIS stimulus plan would create 4,000,000 new jobs?

view link

Now what will he do? Oh oh I bet he'll want another stimulus package.
