Rules Of Freedom Matters
In life there must be rules. We, the moderators, do not attempt to silence any voice unless that voice defies the rules of our group. Here are the simple rules of Freedom Matters I adopted from the rules of Eons.
1) Links must be provided to all articles posters wish other members to peruse. If a post is made that is only the cut and pasted text of an article written by others it will be deleted ….with no explanation given.
2) There will be no personal attacks (name calling) tolerated.
3) No e-mails may be posted in the group.
No one is more responsible for the productivity and direction of our group than you….the individual member. If you have questions about a deletion read the rules and figure out which rule (or rules) were broken. If you still can’t figure it out contact a moderator, via a PM, for a brief explanation.

That's a nasty word for any politician.
Cap and trade sounds good, no mention of taxes, better to do that than raise taxes on fuel which is a much simpler solution.
Lower taxes doesn't work because what gets hit first? Welfare programs and anything to do with improving infrastructure.
Obama wants to equalise the economy, make the income tax more progressive. The way he is doing it now the middle class is going to get blindsided.
The government is broke after using 5% of the stimulus which wasn't really a stimulus but a wishlist of the Democratic party which won't even come into effect before 2019. Why waste a crisis?
The Tarp money they are reluctantly accepting back from the banks was at a 5% interest gain. Who lends money for such a low figure?
It's called accepting the status quo and being stupid.
Most people still can't see where Obama is going with the economy. Can't wait till next year and middle class people see an increase in taxes, an increase in inflation and links to make themselves feel better , like NPR

I've been watching some shit on Revelations and such on TV. How many of you have succubmed to fear? Just wondering.
I know we're not supposed to cross post, but I'm gonna put this in all my groups.
No diatribes, please...yes or no.

You go to see your doctor, he sends you to a specialist because he is afraid of making a mistake. You end up paying for all these additional tests. If we reformed tort law and lowered the premiums for malpractice insurance, maybe our doctors wouldn't be afraid to make a diagnosis on their own without all the additional specialised tests.
New drugs are prescribed a year or two earlier in America than Europe and they pay 50% more for the same drugs i.e. the rest of the world gets a free ride while America subsidises the cost of R&D for the drug companies.
The central problem is that most Americans get their health insurance through their employers that can buy health insurance with pretax dollars while individuals can't. The doctors get payed for the number of tests they do and the insurance company passes along the cost to the employer in the form of higher premiums, who will pass them along to workers in the form of lower wages. The proportion of the cost of employer provided health care insurance shouldered by employees is almost 100%. Last year, employer provided health insurance reduced wages by 7.9%.i.e the stagnation of middle-class incomes in recent years.
A government plan could wipe out a lot of private insurers since unlike a private insurer, it would not have to make provision for future liability, it could simply stick the bill on future taxpayers. Medicare, has unfunded liabilities of $36 trillion.
Only 4% of American doctors have a fully functional electronic medical-records system, Obama wants to rectify that and alleviate having to redo tests, a step in the right direction.
I usually pride myself on being able to understand economic principles; healthcare was somewhat a mystery to me. I concentrated and wrote down all my thoughts here.
Seems to me we should fix what we already have rather than trying to redesign the whole thing.

I know it exists, but only from reading about it -- and it stirs a lot of passion here.
There is little doubt there is absolute poverty in Australia especially in Aboriginal communities. There are racists in Australia that treat Aborigines much like racists in America discriminate against American Indians in America. Many on the conservative right of Australian politics argue that it is a mistake to include Aboriginal Communities because it hides the existence of absolute poverty in Australia by looking only at those who, for whatever reason, earn relatively little.
Since 1990 the majority of those living in poverty are becoming more numerous. However, those in the bottom 5% of income earners in Australia have in fact become poorer over the past decade.
Poverty in Australia today is absolute.
Is work the cure? How about the willingness to go anywhere to find it?

I think we can all agree that our current system is very costly and should be fixed. Whether that includes insuring everyone in the country or not is not relevant to this post. What worries me is the way that every legislation that has come along since January has to be acted on "swiftly and boldly." We are looking at adding another trillion dollars to the deficit with the new health care plan. Wouldn't it be prudent to take some time to look at it before we possibly pass something else we don't read? We have tens of millions of people on Medicare and Medicaid. Why don't we test some of the plan on these people (myself included) and see what the costs or savings will be. Let's see if the plan will work or if it will cause hardships. Let's adress peoples fears and then we can roll it out nationaly or do we just want to ram it through because now is when there is the least opposition? How much more does the government want to control?
