Hello Friends
Between my computer being down, depression, and several other maladies I have been BUSY. I trusted in a 38 yr old and her 14 yr old son enough to move in with me because she had been evicted from her apartment. I spoke with her Pastor at her church and he said she was a good lady but due to the economic situation her clientele had been nil to nothing. Without going into details it was a nightmare for me as her 14 year old son was not in school and he stole jewelry from my jewelry case. Needless to say I had to evict them. The case is now pending.
Never the less I have taken the time to let you know why I have not been online much lately. Yes, I enjoyed having the young lady in my home. I truly believe she is a nice person. However, she has a serious problem with her son and the sad part is she makes excuses for him. I tried to talk to her as honest and open and Christian-like as I could. I told her that the jails and prisons are over populated as of today and I suggested that she seek professional help for him. I truly hope she listened with her heart.
I am now feeling that same old loneliness creeping up again. But tomorrow I will work as a volunteer at my church in the "soup line". At least I'm not in the "soup line" yet!
God Bless you all is my prayer.

The Sharecropper's Daughter
I have many short stories that I have written from my chilhood. My father was a WWI Vet and a sharecropper. In case you don't know what that is, it simply means living in tenet housing and working the farm land for the owner of the land. My stories are real and could even be called a bit historical. Few people really know how it was in South Georgia for poor white folk as we eeked out a living from the soil that always belonged to the man living up on the hill in the pretty white house with a picket fence. I really started writing about my life as a sharecropper's daughter for my children and grand children. If I decided to try to publish them does anyone have any idea where I would start? I'm a 72 year old widow and writing gives me some incentive to get up in the mornings.
I don't trust the internet as far as publishing my stories. Many thanks.

Welcome BBQWoman & thns Pre
Welcome to this group BBQWoman and thanks Pressley for the reminder about a back up. I have no desire to write a book. I admire those who can. I love to write short stories. Have had several published in the local newspaper. Also you can read my stories in eGeneratiohs.com. Under Mollie's Memoirs and Journal. I don't have them saved on either a hard copy and don't have them saved on a CD. My computer doesn't have a Floppy Disk. I have a DellXP and the CPU doesn't have a floppy drive.
Thank you Pressley for the reminder . I'm gonna get on this right away. I might even buy a new CPU with floppy drive, Isn't that easier?

OMG
Thanks Pressly for the info. I don't know how to make it private. Please tell me how. With all the Cold Case Files, and Court TV I watch, I can't be too careful.
Would you believe that growing up we slept with the windows open? Now I have all kind of security on my place beginning at the gate entrace. Even that is not enough for some criminal's.
OMG, I'm afraid even more now.
Thanks
Mollie.

Owner vs Eons & Google
I recently read a blog by someone that said that anything you write here on the Eons site, whether it is a story, blog or whatever can also be found on Google. Does anyone know if Eons and Google are connected somehow?

A Gifted Lady:But Not a Writer

I keep a notebook. I'm a moody person. Sometimes bouts with depression gives me incentive to jot down notes in my notebook. Please put this address in our browser and see if it doesn't motivate you as it did me.I hope it does. It's awesome.
It's about a painter, called the "Goat Lady".Some of you may have seen it.
She is gifted with a paint brush.
Writers are gifted with words.
Hope it will inspire you as it did me. Keep writing regardless of how you keep your notes. That's my line.

Congratulations Lynn
Good for you. I think that must be so exciting; writing a book. I can't imagine doing research and typing and re-typing and re-typing, polishing and so on until it is completed. Then the cover: I have often wondered how that process went and the decision whether it should be paper back or hard cover....... But to have your name on a book of your very own words, to me would be such a joy and very rewarding. But in my opinion all writers have to be dedicated people.
I'm writing short stories and non-fiction about my life and the times in which I grew up. I'm 70, just retired. Lost my husband to cancer 14 months ago. So I decided to pull myself up and get busy with something I had wanted to do but never had the time.
My dream is to become a Freelance writer but who knows?
Good luck and keep the faith. You're smart enough to write a book; and I'm sure you will take the other Lynn's ideas and find your own way to market them.
I have written several of my stories on a sight called Seniorgrandcentral. Check them out. Under Mollie

Having worked at school all day I just read your message, Milagro and the reply by Pressly.
This is indeed the times that try men's souls, as Thomas Paine stated. I retired from the public school sytem last August. For 20 years I have seen the hand writing on the wall. The saddest part of all this is that the people that receive six figure salaries never go into the classroom, play ground, lunchroom and observe the children in their normal day to day activities. All they are concerned with is to push the teachers to get higher scores on the CRCT Test, so they can keep their jobs.
When I went to school this type of thing absolutely never happened.
Why was that one must ask?
For one thing we gathered every morning in the auditorium and our Principal read the Bible to us and we actually sang church songs first thing every morning. (We were not fed breakfast back then, we ate at home.)
Then he would pray for us and his prayers were powerful reminders to us that there was a Supreme Being somewhere watching over us and that not only would He take care of us but that we would be held accountable for our conduct. He taught us that we were to love one another as Jesus Christ loved us.
Then came Madilyn Murray O'Hara......
If you will look at the statistics you will find that once the Bible and Prayer was taken out of the schools, then and only then did we produce children without a conscience. We have produced street gangs that must kill someone in order to become a member of "the gang". These children are searching for something solid to belong.....
Man is a living soul made in the image of God Himself and was made to worship and praise God. Man, as God's creation, seeks to be loved by someone and to belong to someone or some thing.... and if the love of God is not instilled into these "our offspring". then expect it to get worse, because it will.
Abraham Lincoln wrote these words on the morning before he was murdered in the Theatre. " A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permantely half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved....I do not expect the house to fall..... but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become ALL ONE THING, OR ALL THE OTHER." (Note the word "ALL The Other" here.)
You are wondering what is the connection of these words got to do murders in Virginia.
I believe that this country was founded on Christian Principals. On our money there is proof that at some time, they were not afraid to mention the name of GOD publicly.
We are a house divided today. Those that believe that we have left God out of our classrooms, schools, homes and society in general for that matter, so long until we now have raised a generation of students that have no conscience what-so-ever.
I have witnessed it personally in the classrooms and on the streets in my town. These students are not born that way. They have learned it because they have never been taught that there is a Supreme God and that we will one day give in account to HIM.
I learned early on to fear God and to this day I still do. I'm afraid to do harm to my neighbor or man kind. God is a powerful God. I would not want the wrath of God poured out on me for causing harm to, let alone the death of, one of my brothers or sisters. And we taught our son and daughter the same concept. And so it goes; All one way or the other.......
What will it take for us to learn?

Battling Writer's Block
Has anyone read Elkhonon Goldberg's book "The Executive Brain"? I have read a preview of it and thinking about purchasing it.
According to what I read it might be a valuable tool to see what he knows about the evil force of Writer's Block.

Passion for Writing...BUT
I have a passion to write. I am happiest when I am writing about people and events that have happened during my lifetime.
The big BUT is that I have a problem with people. They won't leave me alone. And there is the ever ringing telephone, appointments, stuff to do on and on.
So basically time is my biggest problem I have...and I wish I had the combined knowledge of all that I have read here posted by this group.
I'm learning and listening to what you have to say. Thanks to each one of you for sharing with this "wanna be writer".
