Daffodil56: Eons Hero in Eons Insider Newsletter

The Eons Insider newsletter went out today. Daffodil56 was highlighted as an Eons Hero... but, since we're testing the newsletter content for clicks, only half of the newsletters had the Eons Heroes section.

So for those of you that may have missed it, here's the Eons Heroes—Going Above and Beyond! section:

Daffodil56
Smiling with sunny energy as she manages her groups from antiques to writers clubs, our special thanks for moderating Parents who have lost a child.

HippyGirl52
With a heart as big as her smile, she's a one in a million! Thanks for managing Caregivers, Squeaking by Retirement, and helping the newbies on board!

Be sure to sign up for the Insider newsletter (go to Account Settings, then Notifications, then click the Yes button by Eons Insider). And let EonsTeam know if you want to see members highlighted in the newsletter.

Thx! Suzy for EonsTeam

Miss Anna F. Magill

“First, children must want to read,” Miss Anna F. Magill would tell the teachers who came from all over the United States to learn her methods. “And second, they must have something worth reading.” She’d taught longer than any other teacher in any other school in New York City and always at P.S. 166 on Eighty-Ninth between Amsterdam and Columbus. She was the author of nine Anna F. Magill Readers and three Anna F. Magill teaching manuals, published by Ginn and Company of Boston and year after year, she terrified the first grade students in the school. She terrified their parents, too. She even terrified the principal. Or maybe it was awe.

Miss Magill's Monitor

Because of her age, Miss Magill would leave the room for a few minutes from time to time. When she did, she brought in one of her former students, now in the upper grades, to serve as monitors. (This was before they opened Joan of Arc Junior High; P.S. 166 still went up to eighth grade.) The monitors--always girls--were taller and older, intimidating not just through residual fear of Miss Magill, but through their size and age. Any sign of disorder and a glance from them stopped us cold.

LadyGene has an online interview

I will be interviewed online at www.authors@wnbnetworkwest.com/ Authorsshow.html for 15 minutes regarding my book titled FROM THUNDER TO BREAKFAST, a memoir of Hube Yates, an adventurous Westerner with a great sense of humor. Sorry that address is so long. The program runs all day, so if you have 15 minutes to listen, please log on. I would appreciate it.

I also would like to hear from you.
