Sizing Your Photos for Eons Viewing
I can only speak from my experience with the equipment I use, which is a Hewlett Packard scanner with associated software. Using my HP scanner "Image Editor"(I suspect that any scanner has some form of Image Editor included in the software),click the "edit size" (or equivalent)in the image editor you have and reduce your photo to 2.2-3 inches on the short side. Then, to clarify all the details, click the resolution option(pixels/inch)to 600 DPI. Your short side will now (if you click back to check) indicate less than 1 inch, which is ideal for eons photo posting.
There seems to be unlimited posting space for photos on eons, so sequencing works in progress can be very helpful and informative for other artists...no matter what size the photos are.

New Works
Despite slowing down as time attacks me, I continue to make new pictures occasionally. The two I've just posted as WIP woodburns and as finished Prismacolored pencil woodburns are my latest, done since mid-October. I found the scenes while on vacation in N. Conway, NH, and was sufficiently inspired to complete them as seen. Each took at least 24 hours to do, broken up into an hour or two at a time.
The beauty of woodburning and additional color pencil over other mediums, I find, is the texture that the wood grain brings to it. Plus, the ability I have to sit and doodle on it while watching television at my leasure. Haha!
It being Halloween, I think I'll doodle some horror faces now....just for fun.

Another Face
Meet Horace Honkaton, my Halloween special. Please forgive me for posting a face I did in 2007...I couldn't resist and Halloween IS coming soon, and, face it, this is the month for "faces".

Horace was drawn with Prismacolor colored pencils on 11" X 14" Bristol Board. Ain't he cute? No doubt quite attractive to some ladies!!

Missing Photo....AGAIN
I posted my latest Woodburn WIP in the group gallery only to find a blank with my name on the space where it should be. I tried posting it in the D&P group...no problem. Not yet anyway! Any suggestions concerning this repeat of a glitch from last year??

Abstract Art
Since you mentioned me by name, Bob (artistinMaine), as one who avoids doing abstracts, I decided to do some in response to your June challenge. I've done seven so far, some of which I've posted.
What makes them uniquely "mine" is the stubborn way I've made them tightly detailed by using a felt-tipped black ink Pilot pen to painstakinly outline the variations in colors after I virtually "splashed" globs of W/C paint on heavy W/C paper after putting a W/C wash on it.
I'm appalled that some see "images" in these pieces, since they are meant to be totally non-representative of anything!! The titles I use are there because I think they are necessary to distinguish one from another. There's no imagination involved in sequential numbering!!

Alzheimer Patient5 - Pencil 14"X11'
I just added a photo of one of my drawings to the gallery to show what can be done with an "ordinary" yellow pencil.
To me a DIXON Ticonderoga 1388-2 SOFT is extraordinarily versatile, and I usually buy several dozen at a time. No special tools are necessary to do what I've done with this portrait...only the pencil, its eraser and a finger or two for blending.
I use the edge of a new pencil eraser for the fine lines in the hair. A piece of paper may get used to take off the entire back face of the eraser to sharpen the edges when worn, but I usually just pull out an unused pencil with a fresh eraser attatched.
Of course, it's necessary to have dark to show light, so for those portrairs of blondes, gray or white hair, darkening of the background is necessary. That takes much pencil scribbling and finger-rubbing to achieve.
Note also that Bienfang BRISTOL No. 427K or 428K drawing paper is very sensitive to moisture, so don't sneeze at your drawing when using it.
Hope this is of some help to someone.

Missing Pic.
Can anyone please explain why my thumbnail additions to the photo gallery are not visible except when approached by clicking "prev."or "next"??? I followed the directions like always but...no thumbnail do I see, only my name. This is getting annoying....................Urban
Still Can't Post Photos
After following directions sent by the eons help team (most of which I've already tried) I still cannot post photos. I'ts very frustrating!! The only suggestion I hadn't tried is using the Photobucket, which I haven't a clue how to use.
However, the lame excuse given for my problem is that I must be using an old operating system, such as Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows NT, or classic Macintosh. But if that were the problem, how come they aren't flooded with help pleas exactly like mine? My operating system in fact is Microsoft Windows XT. They apparently aren't getting such pleas and haven't a clue how to address my problem. So...what do I do, quit and set up another eons account that I'm not even sure is possible?......Urban

Can Anyone Help With This?
Hi all, I need help in resolving a problem I've suddenly acquired when trying to upload photos from my computer to my eons profile favorites.
I recently moved my computer setup, which involved disconnecting all the components I'd been using. My computer is a Dell Dimension 4700C with seven (USB?) connectors none of which I paid any attention to when changing the setup. My scanner is an HP Scanjet 4600, my printer, an HP Deskjet 842C.
Everything works fine except, after having uploaded hundreds of photos before the move, I now get a reply, "There was a problem uploading your photos. Please try again." I can move the photos I've previously uploaded to any of my eons groups with no trouble.
I've tried shifting connectors around, but no help. I've done a system restore back to before the move. No help. I've asked other eons friends if anyone else is having this problem, and apparently no one is.
Meanwhile, I have new work to upload, but cannot do it.
Any advice/suggestions will be appreciated.......Urban

Welcome New Members
Hey, folks, I've been away for a week only to return and find new members: Marcus Vector, Topojejo, and Jaguarjim have joined us in my absence. Welcome to our friendly group y'all! I'm sure you'll find us interesting and instructive. There is, after all, never a day that goes by when even the most experienced artist doesn't learn something new about graphic art. Every piece we do brings new learning!!!....Urban
