Richard64 is a Heck of a Guy

Friends, I have a Hero, and his name is Dick. This rough-spoken but golden-hearted fellow made a banner out of a collage of my artwork. It is over 8 feet long, and Dick's superb design sense truly turned my chickenstuff into Chicken Cordon Bleu.

Whe I offered my credit card number, he told me to stick my card where the sun didn't shine. "But, Dick," I replied, "I don't have a card reader up there." We shared a belly laugh over that one.

Thanks, man--I'll never forget this!!!

Birthday Poem for Talented Anne

Friends, a couple-few days ago, the Birthday Girl asked me to include the word OBSTREPEROUS in a poem--so, eager to please, I did, but it was a four-line throwaway (the rhyme was "saltandpepperous") and after I wrote it I said to myself, I said, "Self--she deserves better." Since my specialty is Acrostic Poetry, perhaps I could write a poem where the first letters spell OBSTREPEROUS.

But two problems: There are only twelve letters in OBSTREPEROUS, and the Sonnet format, which is my other specialty, has fourteen lines; and the word itself means "boisterous; unruly"--and Talented Anne is anything but.

Lo and behold: UNOBSTREPEROUS has fourteen letters! Thus was born this birthday tribute to one of my favorite people. Happy Birthday, Talented Anne!

Uncanny Annie paints her watercolors
None better at revealing Feline souls
O Captured Preciousness, as sweet as crullers,
Bestirring as a Hymn, smooth as a Rolls.
So well this Birthday Lady keeps her balance
The Moderation shows the calm of Saints
Respect and Care round out her Leading talents
Each day she shows she's MORE than Sings 'N' Paints.
Perhaps by now she's blushing--she's so modest
Effacing of her Self and praising others
Regardless--I know we've been truly Goddessed:
Our Lady Of The Kitty-Cats She Mothers.
Uplift your glasses, Friends, let's have a Toast--
So HERE'S TO YOU, dear Anne--you are The Most!

Love,

Gary

Vote for Charlie

I see a Vote for Smitty post, so I am posting this for the Loyal Opposition.

What is the "fuss" all about? To me it is about "operation Pirate." WE werer in the middle of an orderly process of setting things straight. Suddenly there's a fellow asking me why I suddenly have all this time on my hands. Then there is this:

It's sad the losing of friends,
the tearing, grinding sense of loss.
The emptiness where fullness prevailed,
and the sickness at heart.

A place can be a friend,
a site for happiness and warmth,
and it can also be treacherous
as any flesh and blood ally.

When lies surmount the truth
and greediness is foremost,
love and kindness
cannot surmount the perils.

When stabbed in the back.
it hurts!
And no matter how we hold on,
that stabber cannot withdraw the knife.

And being foolish is not love,
nor is it sensible.
You cannot turn your back again
on one who does not care.

To another place you must go
in hopes of finding that
which you thought you had
but was only lurkng...waiting to strike.

And then, that very person, who has a prolblem with Lurkers, waiting to Strike--struck.

For all the rhetoric about "why can't we draw and paint" and "why make waves" I shake my head: was not this the biggest Wave-Making of all?

No Turmoil, Please III

Friends, sometimes a Giant Step Backward is a Good thing. When I ceased daily journal posting at D&P and said my "fond semi-farewell" I quickly found that it was a mistake, cost me MORE time, wasn't working. So now I am committed to the daily post again.

Many people are happy to have some flavor of Before Chaos Hit. I am one of them.

But I am not so happy as to want to sweep the whole weird thing under the rug. Uncomfortable as it is to do so, Smitty, I have a few questions, my own and posed to me in PMs I got while I was substitute teaching today.

Are you going to continue running the group you have on the other website?

Is Eons aware of your management of that group?

Is Eons aware that you came back on this site under different user names, twice?

What exactly happened that got you reinstated, given that we were told that nothing would be happening till next Monday?

Looking over those questions, a big part of me is saying "Shut up--leave it alone--let the whole thing blow over." But the "still small voice" is saying, "These are questions that need to be answered."

The highly respected, deservedly so, lllraptorlll--paradoxically reminded me of you with his 'I've-had-it' post. I hope, as many who answered his post, that he will not leave for good. I believe answering the questions I've posed might make a difference.

Thank you for your attention.

Please, No Turmoil II

Wow, I go do my Fitness Center Treadmill and come back and . . . all is mysteriously changed.

Don/Pirate/Smitty, all respect--but there IS turmoil, created by your post. I have some PMs asking me what happened to due process, what the heck is going on, etc.

We have a vote going on now, that is scheduled to run another 20 hours or so. We have not heard directly from Charlie to my knowledge. For the good of the group, I humbly suggest we enter your name in the ballot, keep the vote going, invite voters to change their vote to you if they wish--and not have the due process we so carefully constructed be ignored.

It is a dynamic universe, and many things have changed since you left. For instance, you now manage a group on another website. Are you going to be running them both?

And what are hour thoughts on my proposal?

The Straight Scoop

Friends, I have been told by Rose--who withdraws her name from any list of candidates--that we may indeed vote for a new Manager, and pass our decision on to CommunityGal, who will be back next Monday.

GaryJames has volunteered to set up a voting widget, if we want him to.

Sooo--let's start generating a list of nominees.

In the interest of harmony . . .

Please let us keep level heads. What we ALL want is the vital group that has such talented, loyal people that we have known for so long.

Paula, there is an implied threat in your announcement. In the interest of harmony, and your own wish for no fighting, I respectfully ask that you remove it.
