COMPETITION

A fun thing to do "in your spare time". Go to the group's photo page. View all the albums you'd like to and then post in this thread which one is your favorite.
Can be any style, medium, or subject and, if you wish, you can say WHY it is your favorite.
So jump in, view the albums and enjoy the view while you do so. After a while, I will tally the votes and FEATURE the favorites on the home page.
See you here!
Any thoughts
Art in Schools
The local school district here is trying to elimate all art and music programs in the district but want to keep sports programs. I feel this a REALLY bad idea for many reasons, mostly because I remember what it was like to be the unattractive unathletetic kid who needed something that would give me something positive to focus on that I could do well. It was just as important to build self esteem to me as sports were to my siblings. What are your thoughts on elimating art and music in schools?
This is what I'm doing
I just posted the first 3 or a series of images of pears. I started doing this series of 9x12 pieces recently when I was asked to do a program for our local art league. The subject, size and composition (or lack of one) is the same in all of them, only the medium is different. I hope to inspire the audience, made up of both experienced and beginning artists, to try something different from the medium and or style they are familiar with by having them hold and examine each piece. The original date to do the program has been changed, but I'll eventually do it and will now I'll have time to complete several other pieces.

Art in everything
Have anyone realized that everything we do...there's an ART to it? the way we speak...walk...smile..write...read... dance...chooses our stuffs...deal with people...EVERYTHING THERE'S AN ART...So, i therefore conclude that if we all have Art in everything..that means that we also have art stored deep within us...why not explore what's within you...who knows you have that art in painting...drawing...photography and so on and so fort...So, have fun...
help please
My 12 year old grand daughter has a birthday coming up. She is very interested in drawing and painting, and her mom and I want to stock a studio for her. Yvette has actually had several of pieces displayed. Without going to a brand name, what would you reccomend for a beginning artist who has gone a little past the Crayola stage ? We have already gotten her an easel and paper.
