Funny Story
I have two dogs, a Peke and a Boston (see pics) The Peke is a very "ferocious" house protector! He can hear the mailman two blocks away and barks at him! A few weeks ago he was barking at night and waking me up. I would get up and reprimand him but since there was no one in our drive or on the street, I couldn't figure it out. He proceded to do this for a couple hours, about every 5 minutes!! I was SO exhausted as I got up every time, took him to his crate and told him to BE QUIET in my LOUD MOM VOICE! Finally I decided to hideout in another room with the door open and watch him in the kitchen, Lo and behold I heard a slight BEEP! which would send him into a frenzy! I waited again to hear it so I could trace it to where it was coming from. And it turned out to be one of our fire alarms! The battery was going dead and it was beeping to let me know I needed to change it! In the middle of the night no less! Well, last night he started doing the same thing. THIS time it was my cell phone battery. I had left it on in my purse and he had heard the faint "beep" from inside my purse, in my bedroom, down the hall with the door shut! Wow, he has some ears on him!
Anyone else experience that or similar barking stories?

ALERT! Swine Flu in Dogs
My Vet just emailed me in reply to a rumor I had heard about an H1N1 virus affecting dogs. It is acutally H1N8 and has already spread into 30 states. She said that the symptoms are that of severe kennel cough although Bordetella vaccines are not effective. One fellow EONs member told me that she thought it started in Florida, in the racing greyhound community but I don't think that has been proved. (yet)
You may want to google it, I go by what my Vet says most of the time. This is all she knows because we have not had any cases in Northcentral Wisconsin yet.
