Wedding photography

I have had the privilege of being a 'first assistant' for two Des Moines area wedding photo studios...I learned a lot and I was usually the one doing the receptions and the candids...probably the 'gift of gab' I inherited from my father...always been able to put groups at ease and get the 'special' photo that they like...have been doing this part-time for 20 years...now my nephew in Alaska has asked me to be his primary photog...they started late and were put off by the limited availability in July...also the $2,000 basic fees...I guess Uncle Jim will do his best with 35MM and digital...

Photoshop 6

Hi guys, I really enjoy reading your posts and viewing all the wonderful pictures in our group. I just have a question. Just recently, Staples had Photoshop 6 on sale for $80, (originally $100) and it never been on sale for that price before. Is it possible that they may be coming out with a new and improved Photoshop? If you guys have any
insights, I would like to know before shelling out $80 for this software. Thanks for your assistance.

FIREWORKS

Sylk...many, many thanks for your post with the link to instructions for shooting fireworks. I had great fun. Our little show was only about 10 minutes long, but for a first try I'm pleased with what I got.

More in first reply. (and thanks, again)

Emmy & blackeyed susans

I managed to get a shot of my cat when she wasn't looking :) She follows me all over the yard when I'm outside, & getting a picture is nearly impossible! When I squat down to her level to snap the shot, she immediately comes over & starts twining around me wanting to be petted, lol!

Filters and Fireworks

I know this should be obvious - but I'll be the dummy and ask anyway :)

I do not want the Polarizing filter on for the fireworks tonight, correct?

I was just doing some camera setup and finally sorted out how to put it on the bulb setting (amazing what things you can find out when you take the time to read :)

I do have a remote for my 350D so that will help - and I just tried it out to ensure that it works.

So, I think I'm ready - but only time will tell. I get nervous on occasions like this when you only have one shot at getting images and you're trying out new things.

I wish us all luck tonight and I hope you're enjoying your 4th of July. I'm about to go out and work on cleaning up/painting part of the house.

Photo Category for June 27-July 7...EMOTION

'Doors' showed some great artistic talent, and we still have today left to post.

For Emotion, this will test your 'story telling' skills with you camera. It can be people or animals showing emotion, or inanimate objects that EVOKE a certain emotion. Please title your photos with the Emotion that you think you are conveying with the image.

Have fun!............Eagleye

(I extended the time period on this one to include the 4th of July weekend)
