Harnesses

I have been looking for a harness that Maddie would wear when we walk. She tends to pull on the leash and chokes and coughs. All that I have tried did not go well with her legs, just a mess. I was in Petco and they had a comfort harness.I tried it this moring and she had no problems with it. Finally a walk where she did not try to choke herself.... It was great

Favorite Treats?

As I sit here scooping out a spoonful of peanut butter for myself, there is a little doxie beside me BEGGING for a taste. Peanut butter is one of TQ's favorite snacks, along with ice cream. What treats do your furbabies get excited about?

Thanksgiving's National Dog Show

Did any of you watch the National Dog Show which followed the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade last week? This little wire-haired Dachshund was in the Hound Group, and boy was he a little doll! Strutted around so proud, the crowd loved him, he received 3rd place...the Scottish Terrier won Best in Show.

Isn't the face of the wire-haired doxie irresistable? He has that same soulful look in his eyes that they all seem to have!

Easy Rider

I can't believe this doxie wears all this gear...no way would TQ allow any of it to stay on!

Pet Insurance

Here is a link to an interesting article about pet health insurance:

Taking into consideration that our dachshund breed is plagued with spine and dental issues, this might be a good option for those that can afford it. I have checked it out before and the average is about $30/month...

Dry skin

With the cooler weather out and it is so dry. I noticed that Schotzee has a little bit of dandruff. I feed her Authority Lamb mini chunk, should I be giving her an oil supplement or I have heard a bath in oatmeal shampoo - any recommendations?

My latest venture

Most of you are aware that TQ refuses to wear a stitch of clothing. And yet I keep buying stuff for him (those teeny tiny outfits are just SO cute!). Nothing stays on for more than a minute ~ I have a dresser drawer full of brand new tiny dog clothes!

I saw this at WalMart and yes, I bought it. My thinking was that since TQ loved his blankets, he would love this (as these Snuggies are called "blankets with sleeves" ~ the same ones you see on infomercials for humans). It's so soft and cuddly! But it's another bust. He was out of it in 20 seconds and started attacking it and running around with it in his mouth...

Confess

How many of you went ahhh when "Ruthie" made her appearance in A Dog Named Christmas? And how many of you worried about her when the cougar was in the barn? and how many got all soft and gooey when they showed the babies? And when Ruthie and her pups were all adopted by the same family knew exactly why such a thing could happen,

And now for the BIG question, do you admit to watching a Hallmark movie. for Pete's sake, called A DOG NAMED CHRISTMAS (how corny) ?????

Blanket time

Well, we had our first cold rainfall yesterday, and we sure needed it (the sun's out again today, though). The usual again, TQ would not step out in the rain, ran back to the porch and wanted inside the house. He would rather hold it all day than go on the wet grass to do his business.
