v 0.9

1. I expect everyone to act their age. Arguments are fine, insults are not. I allow a little extra latitude for public figures, but not much. Politicians and Political Parties shall henceforth be referred to by their real names only. Multiple violations will result in negative consequences.

2. Just because someone dangles bait in front of your face doesn't mean you have to swallow it. This is not about who gets the last word in or who can be a bigger jerk. Act like your Mama raised you right.

3. Sweeping generalizations such as "all you Republicans" or "those liberals" or whatever are to be avoided. Such generalizations are almost always wrong, and are usually just indirect insults. (See Rule #1 above.)

4. Please do not cross-post. (Place the same message in more than one group) It just wastes space, and reduces the “signal to noise ratio.”

5. When starting a new topic, please place all text beyond the first couple of paragraphs in the first reply.

The New Health Care Bill???

The Senate has reached a compromise on a new bill. It like all of the previous crafting of the bill was done in secret and the details are just coming out but with so many pages, it will be a while for them to be digested. The compromise is ominous - taking Medicare, which is already going broke and adding millions of more to its rolls down to the age of 55?. Sounds like another "too big to fail scenario" that will need massive new payroll taxes and taxpayer bailouts. I am sure this is all just a ruse to get a public option in the bill by having it as a backup when this plan fails, but it could take the only health care system that millions of old people have down with it.

Will somebody please explain to me why this new plan is a good idea?

...and in light of the proposed new debt ceiling of $14T, perhaps DC should read this...

Peace Prize

Here's just one of a million articles about O getting the PP (Obama getting the Peace Prize)!

I personally think that the hoopla is all about how ridiculous the "prize" is -- there should be little or distinction in receiving this thing from this point forward. They have proven that if you espouse a particular agenda, you have a chance to get it even if you don't deserve it, and clearly a lot of people know that he doesn't deserve it. I am embarrassed for our country to have him accept it -- he should have either declined it or sent someone else to accept it on behalf of the country, not him personally - he's a loser and the world is starting to see through his BS.

I hope this is the end of the Nobel Peace Prize - it has run it's course.

Our Congress At Work!!!!

House panel passes college football playoff bill

Now Congress is reaching in to college sports and trying to regulate how they select their number one team. To me this is just another example of a federal government that is trying to regulate every aspect of our lives - it neither saves money or provides any real service - just more federal controls in an area they should not be involved - and I am sure more government jobs so bureaucrats decide who wins and who loses. I am ashamed to say that the bill is being pushed by a Texas Republican.

By FREDERIC J. FROMMER

WASHINGTON (AP) - A House subcommittee approved legislation Wednesday aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine its national champion, over the objections of some lawmakers who said Congress has meatier targets to tackle.

The bill, which faces steep odds, would ban the promotion of a postseason NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision game as a national championship unless it results from a playoff. The measure passed by voice vote in a House Energy and Commerce Committee subcommittee, with one audible "no," from Rep. John Barrow, D-Ga.

"With all due respect, I really think we have more important things to spend our time on," Barrow said before the vote, although he stressed he didn't like the current Bowl Championship Series, either.

The BCS selections announced last weekend pit two unbeaten teams, No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Texas, in the Jan. 7 national title game. Three other undefeated teams - TCU, Cincinnati and Boise State - will play in a BCS bowl game, but not for the championship.

Obama Afghanistan Timetable

The Afghanistan timetable and reasoning for it made a lot of sense to me. Now it's morphing into what others feel it should be. We need to keep our nose to the grindstone and do the most important things mentioned by Obama. The Afghanistan leadership telling Gates what they think the timetable should be along with monetary help for years to come just doesn't fly. President Obama needs to reiterate to all concerned the time for dilly dallying and risking our young men & women's lives are coming to an end PERIOD. Get it together Afghanistan, it's time to stand up and be counted.

there is gold in glen beck

I have often mention how much I love Glen Beck his theatrics crying on clue even his three “G” Guns G-d and Gold I found humorous although extremely dangerous at this time to mix the lord with gun it allows the liter humanists an opportunity.

Heck for a decade purchased Gold even in the way he recommends gold coins knowing that I was paying premium of 6-9 per cent more then my smarter brother who just bought bullion. What I did not know yet should have realized he is not giving this advise away free. He works for a large gold dealer that pays him every time he open his mouth making this recommendation. To me that is a clear conflict of interest. If you want to use gold as a hedge you can purchase coin but be careful the quality are not the same. There is bullion, heavy as heck storage is a pain however no overhead as in coin (take 8% of $1100 that is what you are paying extra) and there are gold certificates. I thought it was strange that he never mentions silver at the last time I looked at $14 per ounce. Easier to get, cheaper, and tripled in value. Then there is his scare tactic of confiscation. If interested in gold or silver for what ever reason check kitko .com I do not receive any money from them but I will warn you Jim Sinclair who runs the site is a powerful salesperson and has a great newsletter about the economy. He wears the outfit of the founding fathers has he worn he outfit of the 49ers or the Alaskan gold rush as the walked the steps of dead horse gulch(something like that)
Another P.S. Sinclair is predicting gold will hit $2500 but right now it took a small drop.
as usual there is gold in the glenn beck show for him.
