1. I expect everyone to act their age. Arguments are fine, insults are not. I allow a little extra latitude for public figures, but not much. Politicians and Political Parties shall henceforth be referred to by their real names only. Multiple violations will result in negative consequences.
2. Just because someone dangles bait in front of your face doesn't mean you have to swallow it. This is not about who gets the last word in or who can be a bigger jerk. Act like your Mama raised you right.
3. Sweeping generalizations such as "all you Republicans" or "those liberals" or whatever are to be avoided. Such generalizations are almost always wrong, and are usually just indirect insults. (See Rule #1 above.)
4. Please do not cross-post. (Place the same message in more than one group) It just wastes space, and reduces the “signal to noise ratio.”
5. When starting a new topic, please place all text beyond the first couple of paragraphs in the first reply.
6. Management retains the Right to delete any post at any time for any reason, in accordance with the Eons Terms of Use.

Was It A Huge Blunder???
The trial of the Sheik and his buddies in civilian court could lead to them being found not guilty. Consider the Constitutional issues that are now in play:
- The right for a speedy trial.
- The reading of rights and having an atty present during questioning.
- The use of coercion to get a confession.
In addition statements by the Atty general and the President that "He will be found guilty and executed" has poisoned the jury pool. Holding the trial in NYC also could be considered as poisoning the jury pool.
Has the Obama administration given the war criminals a "get out of jail free" card? I am not sure the Supreme court could uphold a conviction if it did happen.
What do you think?

I you are taking the perscription drug Plavix, a blood thinner usually for people at risk for heart attackj or stroke and
either
prilosec or nexioum a meds for acid reflux there has been a national call to plwase call your doctor. It appears that the acid reflux meds interfere with the body's ability to thin the blood so your risk is high. I am not sure but I believe prilosec and nexium aer over the counter. Please act ASAP

Loser-in-Chief (rant)
Dear Friends:
Your president is a loser. He's a spineless, grovelling incompetent. He is the very face of the worst possible outcome of affirmative action: the quota-in-chief. He's travelling at our expense all around the world, telling everyone who will listen that America is a terrible place that does terrible things -- isn't this exactly what Islam believes?
He doesn't understand America because he doesn't understand greatness. He doesn't get the virtue of "exceptionalism." He doesn't understand leadership by example. He's never been great, and never will be. We identified him as a "silver-tongued slacker" the first time we heard him speak.
He's an embarrassment abroad and at home. Abroad he slanders this great land and at home he and his team of hypecaffeinated malcontented radical power junkies brainstorm new ways to destroy it from within.
He's a disgrace and he's disgracing this country, and the sooner we can put this abysmal episode behind us, the better.
If we survive it.
Which we will. But in what condition? And at what expense?

Afghan women need our help

HERAT, Afghanistan – I came to this city of clean, tree-lined streets, near the Iranian border, to write about Afghan women.
The subjugation of women under the Taliban, who forbade them to work, attend school or leave home without a male relative, once galvanized Americans' emotions. The freeing of women was a big achievement of the Taliban's ouster. But that issue is receiving little attention as the debate heats up over what our Afghan strategy should be.
So I traveled to Suraya Pakzad's shelter for abused women in Herat as a reminder of the gains women have made, and the terrible price they will pay if the international community turns its back on Afghanistan.
Cultural pressures compel most women in Herat to wear the tent-like blue burqa, with a mesh strip over the eyes, or an enveloping black-and-white-print chador that leaves the face free. Afghan women do work and attend school, although the Taliban are attacking girls' schools in the south and east of the country. The progress of Afghan women is real, but reversible.
