How Do You Do...

I am new to the group and wanted to say "Hello". My favorite crock pot recipe is for Bar-B-Que Beans. It's fast, easy and tasty...good for a large group.

3 #303 cans cut green beans (not french cut)
1 onion, chopped
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup catsup
1 Tbsp. brown sugar

Mix together all ingredients. Cook 4-6 hours in slow crockpot.

Thanks... idea

As I was going over some of the recipes here... I started thinking about our daughter and family... both she and her husband work ... 2 girls in school and I keep the 2 yr. old grandson... these recipes can help them ... so... I believe I'll make a "Cook book" for them...
we can all do that and leave our family and friends with the best there is...

New to group

The one thing I DON'T like about EONS is that I am always finding more groups to join...good thing I am retired and have time to devout to all the groups...if I was still working...I would be fired for spending too much time online visiting Eons.

Long story short, my wife of 38 years died about 4 months ago of a brain tumor. I was fortunate to be her caregiver for the last 10 months of her short life...we totally enjoyed being together constantly...we held hands when we went to bed.

We both cooked, she was much better than I am, however, I enjoyed trying new recipes and constantly amazed her with my endeavors.

Now, I am into making dinners and having leftovers to last the week or freezing for future use.

I just looked at a few of the recipes and am already planning ahead.

Thanks for posting your favorites...I don't have any to post...yet.

Enjoy your week

Hungarian Beef Goulash

2 medium onions, halved and sliced
1 1/2 pounds boneless beef chuck or beef round steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
4 teaspoons paprika
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
3 tablespoons catsup
2 tablespoons water
3/4 pound small red potatoes, scrubbed and shredded
1 (14 1/2 oz) can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained well
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 to 1 teapoons caraway seeds (optional)
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

In a 3 1/2 quart crock pot, mix together the onions, beef, paprika, pepper,
catsup, water, and potatoes. Top with sauerkraut. Cover and cook on the
low heat setting 8 hours, or until the beef is tender. Mix gently. Stir in the
sour cream and caraway seeds. Serve garnished with the parsley.

Roast Beef w/Mushrooms

One of our favorite recipes is for a mushroom sauced roast beef cooked all day in the crock pot served over noodles or a good plain or brown rice.

1 good cut of chuck beef roast or any type roast of your choice...size depends on the size of your crock pot.

1 medium onion sliced and layered over the roast

1-2 cans of cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

1/2 cup water plus the liquid from the canned mushrooms

2 cans of sliced mushrooms, undrained

salt and pepper to taste

Cook on low all day. The longer it cooks the more tender the roast gets. Serve the roast sliced over wide noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes. Add green beans or a salad as a veggie...ENJOY!

We have also made venison this way in the fall and that is very good too.
