WOW!!
I am seriously considering calling Mary Landrieu's office and saying something like: "I'm just calling to say, "Thank You," to Senator Landrieu, and "Goodbye"... because if she votes for this Health Care bill she will effectively cook her own Christmas goose... and GOOD RIDDANCE!"

A Friend Sent This To Me...
A "litigation hold?"... Does this mean that the DOE is planning to file suit against the East Anglia Climate Research Unit over some aspect of the "global warming" issue?
Not being an attorney, I'm not exactly sure what the ramifications of this are. Maybe someone out there could help me out here?

US DOE sends litigation hold notice to all staff re CRU
December 15, 8:48 AMEssex County Conservative ExaminerTerry Hurlbut
The US Department of Energy (DOE) has sent a litigation hold notice to all its employees, at all its installations, asking them to preserve any documents they might have in their records regarding the East Anglia Climatic Research Unit (CRU), the University of East Anglia (UEA) of which the CRU is a part, and the anthropogenic global warming (AGW) controversy in general.
A regular reader of Anthony Watts' blog WattsUpWithThat found a notice in his e-mail inbox yesterday and copied it to Watts. The e-mail referred to a litigation hold notice sent to his installation (Savannah River Site, or SRS) and all other installations from the DOE Offices of General Counsel and Inspector General. The commenter stated that 8000 people at Savannah River alone received the e-mail.
Direct searches at the GC and IG websites produce no references to any such notice. However, Watts reports the following steps that he took to authenticate the notice:
The Internetworking Protocol (IP) address of his commenter, J. C., matches network addresses issued to residents of Aiken, South Carolina, location of the SRS facility.
Two persons referred to in the e-mail, including Michael L. Wamsted, Associate GC for SRS, and Madeline Screven, a paralegal in the AGC-SRS office, do exist and do work for the DOE and at that site
The language used in the e-mail is typical "lawyer-ese." An attorney, also a regular reader of WattsUpWithThat, has reviewed the letter and found nothing in it that differs from typical legal practice by general counsels or inspectors general.
The only possible evidence against the authenticity of the document is the errant substitution of the homonym "council" for "counsel."
The key paragraph in the letter reads as follows:
As a reminder, this Litigation Hold preservation obligation supersedes any existing statutory or regulatory document retention period or destructive schedule. The determination of what information may be potentially relevant is based upon content and substance and generally does not depend on the type of medium on which the information exists. The information requested may exist in various forms, including paper records, hand-written notes, telephone log entries, email, and other electronic communication (including voicemail), word processing documents (including drafts, spreadsheets, databases, and calendars), telephone logs, electronic address books, PDAs (like Palm Pilots and Blackberries), internet usage files, systems manuals, and network access information in their original format. All ESI should be preserved in its originally-created, or “native” format, along with related metadata. Relevant backup tapes and all indexes for those tapes should also be preserved. Further, information that is reasonably accessible must nonetheless be preserved, because such sources will, at the very least, need to be identified and, under compelling circumstances, may need to be produced.
The letter further advises: when in doubt, preserve.

Conversation overheard on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai...

The conversation went like this...
Iranian Air Defense Radar: "Unknown aircraft you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself."
Aircraft: "This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace."
Air Defense Radar: "You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!"
Aircraft: "This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!"
Air Defense Radar: (no response .... total silence)

A Good One...
George Bush, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell.
While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for.
The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.
Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes. When he was finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a check..
Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes. When she was finished the devil informs her that cost is 6 million dollars, so Queen Elizabeth writes him a check.
Finally George Bush gets his turn and talks for 4 hours. When he was finished the devil informed him that there would be no charge for the call and feel free to call the USA anytime.
When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Bush got to call the USA free.
The devil replied, "Since Obama became president of the USA , the country has gone to hell, so it's a local call."
