Hi Everyone!

I love to read, especially on Sunday. I wanted to share this with the group.

Thich Nhat Hanh, "Miracle of Mindfulness"

I like to walk alone on country paths, rice plants and wild grasses on both sides, putting each foot down on the earth in mindfulness, knowing that I walk on the wondrous earth. In such moments, existence is a miraculous and mysterious reality.

People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child--our own two eyes. All is a miracle.

Have a great day!

COMPASSION OUT OF THE STORM

This is a new group where people can come for peace and harmony and of course compassion. After seeing the slime and muck on so many sites with a focus on anger, whining, and soft porn it is time for a new direction. Thanks Doc for starting something that is positive, kinder and more peaceful. Thanks for offering shelter.................Lonestar1.

Hello

Lonestar invited me to share with you in this group.

Always interested in anything that leads to a better life and being a better member of society.

Upfront let me state I believe in "Tough Love" and have little patience with people who practice "Victim Thinking" or who wallow in toxic situations of their own making. I have little time or appreciation for whiners. I have even less understanding for those who enable inappropriate behavior.

Compassion to me means sharing positive experiences with positive people to create a better place- doing good while doing good. In terms of the old cliche-- would rather teach a person to fish than to provide that fish.

Country Barn.........

Posted my old country barn photo. To me this old barn is a lot like a person. It is older and beautifully weathered with windows that you can only partly see through. There to harbor and protect in whatever way is needed, it is my idea of compassion for those who need shelter. Lonestar1.

Compassionate Living

Here I am Lonestar.

What is compassionate living to me? It is realizing I am part of the whole. We are connected to all living things on this planet.

With this realization comes an empathy for all life on the Earth. All creatures on this planet have a place in the sun.

I am saddened to see the destruction and death man inflicts on the Earth and all its creatures. Have we not learned by now there is a better way? Sometimes the sadness almost overwhelms me.

Show me a religious philosophy that says this is right. Even Chrisitianity says we are all brothers and stewards of the Earth.

I am truely saddened that we continue on our road to hell. We allow our environment & people to be poisoned and wonder why there is sickness. We argue over whether putting tons and tons of CO2 into the air is a good thing. We blindly permit our country to commitment acts of war. We have lost our perspective. We have lost our honor.

When this is all said and done, and you take your last breath, can you say that you left the Earth a better place? Will people remember you as a kind, compassionate person? Will they thank you for doing what was right?

DocDavid and Compassion

Well group looks like it's just us for now. I like the idea of the group why not get started on what you exactly mean by compassion. To me it is pretty broad based and entails everything from just listening to providing help when needed. Why does it seem to be so rare in our society these day? Lonestar1.

Another New Member

Welcome to the site. I came here to get away from the whining and complaining on the other sites. Think this is a great place for positive things. Thanks for starting us up Doc..........Lonestar1.

Compassionate Living Group

What a good idea for a group. It seems like a positive spin on life that is so very much missing from many of the sites that I have visited and subsequently left. The negativity is rampant on these sites. Tired of it and come here for a break, rest and peace...........Lonestar1.

Welcome New Member

Oh my.....we have a new member. Great and thanks for joining up with us! Jump in the water is fine.....what does compassion mean to you? What is the most compassionate thing you have done? Lonestar?

Introduction to Compassionate Living

I think we all have different ways we share compassion in the world, different ways we express compassionate living. I also firmly believe that compassion becomes stronger when it is supported by others. It is in that simple idea of support that I offer this group to the EONS community. This can be a place where people can share stories of difficult times faced when offering compassion and also share the times when compassion made a difference. We can share how we define compassion, how it is connected to other important beliefs we hold and we can share aspects of compassion that might seem confusing. We can make suggestions on how to move toward a culture of compassion. Mostly this is a place to support each other in our desires to be compassionate in life. Please feel free to discuss any topic that is related to compassion (or lack of). An open community discussion of compassion may be the first step needed to help “pass it on”.

Compassionate blessings,
DrD
