WSMC Project
This is what is going on in Washington...any support members here can provide is appreciated. the following is the email sent to wiki members:
Washington State Mineral Council Project
If you live in Washington state, please consider volunteering for this important project.
MISSION STATEMENT
"...To determine what actions the Council can take to retain access to private lands in Washington.
Specifically this includes three current problem areas: Lucas Creek, Adna and Studebaker Creek.
In our efforts we should all strive to make this an example for other problem areas.
Objectives are coalescing along several lines:
To draft code of conduct building upon the rockhounders code of ethics that incorporates the concerns of all constituencies. To seek official endorsment of this statement by the regulatory authorities.
To determine private land mineral rights owners and managment entity concerns for each site in question and offer specific constructive solutions. Club or Council sponsership of sites, private joint ventures and small stream restoration projects are all possibilites.
To establish increased credibility for clubs and club members. We need very good PR to help reverse the increasing pace of closures and regulatory restrictions. This is an exceptional challenge in the face of the greed exhibited by the plunderers who reside almost exclusively outside of our community.
Please contrbute your suggestions to this thread. There are a lot of potential tasks that will contribute to these objectives. I will put the objectives and tasks together as the ideas converge.
Regardless, contacting Weyerhauser is on the critical path. To respect their privacy, please send me suggested contact indivduals by private message. And if anyone knows the underlying mineral rights ownership for these tree farms, please post that info...."
To add your name to the volunteer list, please email The wiki coordinator: Gamaliel114 (ME:-)

Lower Finney Creek
I've started photographing some of my newest rocks. follow the link. Click on the pictures there to view slideshows of each of the pieces. View the whole slideshow to get a better feel of the rock. Still learning my new camera, so some aren't that good. i always take dry shots first, then wet...so at first they don't look like much. More soon.

Incredible Agate...Must See to Believe!
This is featured today on Mindat.org. This is one of most incredible specimens of agate that I have ever seen! Is it just me, or doesn't this specimen look like a shoreline with water covering the orange-colored chalcedony with ripples propagating out from the chalcedony nodules?

Botryoidals
Does anyone know anything about how botryoidals are formed?
Is it chemical, or does it have to do with crystal lattice structure or is it a matter of the pressure diffence of one material forming agianst another. Is it analogous to boiling water? What are the theories out there?

Cool Sites
I met this guy, Wayne Corwin in a chat room in Mindat.org of which I've been a member for over a year now. He's has some of the coolest videos showing vugs and mining techniques. Plus he has a site with some of the stuff he's collected that's for sale. Here are the links to both:
