I Gota Wait til' My Brain Recharges
Well, My Rocker colleagues, I let you all down the other day when I bipped the story/rock adventure I was writing and lost it. But never fear, "I will be back", with an adventure to tell you yet! So how many of you have used rock sounding handles? I have used Sgt Rock for the longest time, as well as Dusty Roads, and Rambo. My late wife was always known as the Bead Lady, Luna Estrella, the Herb Lady, and Aunt "T". It was fun after many years of traveling to rock places, shows, and fairs, that we had often been greeted by people who recognized us from someother place. The best fun has always been sharing rock knowledge with students of all ages, I always say that you can't know too much. There are galaxies to discover, planets to explore. Damn those torpedoes, full speed ahead.......
YESTERDAYS
Yesterday I thought I'd try my hand at writing something full of neat info and a rock collecting adventure. However as I was about to click the post-it button, blip, it was gone. I am a bit upset that I once again bumped my laptop, and ruined my best efforts, and three or four hours of typing down the tubes, and mostly not enjoying the comaraderie and feed back that I would have been able to enjoy talking with some of you.
Well, I'll collect my thoughts for a few days, and consider writing of a Western Rock Adventure in a few more days. So leave your "Leaverites", and "Wonderstones" where they lay, and I'll be back.

Hello All You Real Stoners
It is funny sometimes the things that can catch our eye and lead to a fantastic journey in our lives. I had looked for the possibility of a Rock Group the first week I experienced EONS without luck. Today however while scrolling through members list exploring for some kindred spirit, lo and behold, my eyes spotted a name, "Crocoite", I recognized immediately that mineral name. More so I think I have also maybe found a friend who is definately a kindred spirit. It goes to show just how small this big world can be.
Anyway, now that I am acquainted with ya'll, I'll try to be active in sharing my experience and knowledge of the Great Provider-our Mother-Earth. Have a nice day everybody.

Fluorescent Rocks and Minerals
I have collected rocks and minerals most of my life. Once in a while I would see a fluorescent mineral display and think about how nice it would be to have my own fluorescent display.
About a year ago, I went to a mineral show in Kelso, WA and bought a lamp and some specimens. I also bought several specimens from eBay. I now have a nice display and love to show them to family and friends.

Hey
Hey, to all in this group. I read all of your messages but, don't take the time to answer them as I am more envolved with the Ron Paul for President campaign. If you have not seen his website go here www.ronpaul2008.com He has been doing so great lately. Take care.
rock-hounding
Hey--how did I miss this group? I used to go rock-hounding with my Dad many years ago around Tucson AZ--so much to find there. I haven't been for many years but I find my nose is always to the ground anyway. I once attended the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show--not for years though--and in Fort Collins, CO I was a member of the CSU Lapidary club. Hope to meet everyone here--My granddaughter now loves "rocks" and loves to show me her collection...
Calling all mineral and rock lovers!!
We are few in number but big in spirit--and most of us have scraped up noses from keeping them to the ground all the time looking for a special rock, mineral or fossil. Years ago, around 1968, my sister and I were with my parents at a used car lot in Alabama--the lot was covered with gravel. My sister and I found some unusual looking "rocks"--they were long, skinny, and made a funny "plink" sound when we dropped them on the sidewalk. They were unusual enough that we kept them for years. When we were grown, my sister gave hers to me, not having the same interest I did in these rocks. I never knew what they were until I visited the Denver Museum of Natural History, and there, in the glass case, were "rocks" just like mine. They are dinosaur teeth. I still have them. I will take a picture and post them in a few weeks as right now I am in the process of moving. I would love to hear about your most unusual finds. Hope to get you all thinkging and posting!!
Rocks & Minerals
Hi, This is the first time I have ever posted to any site, but I thought this would be a good place to start. My husband and I collected minerals over 30 years ago and loved every minute of it. We have a huge collection that we are now selling as we don't have the room for it anymore. We collected from Nova Scotia down to Florida and over to Arkansas. What a wonderful experience it was. Our oldest child was 2 when we started and we continued until he was 14. He has seen a lot of the east coast and many wondrous sights. Then our second son came along and with that and our older son's school and sports it was time to go on to other things.
If you would like to see our website go to dabarminerals.com. Would be happy to answer any questions about locations we went to or general rockhounding information.

Thank God there are 3 of us now
I've been collecting since I was seven...I prefer fossils but will go anywhere for anything! My vacations usually end up looking for rocks...I live in Arizona.
Great first rockhounding trip!
Went to Cowee Valley area in Franklin, N.C. and several sites in the Nantahala Forest near Franklin. Hiked, dug and found some nice specimens and some itsy, bitsy saphires! Went to Spruce Pine, N.C. and dug at the Crabtree Emerald Mine (whew!) A few specimens, no emeralds, but I'm definitely going back when I can stay longer than one day. Found some golf ball size garnets in Burke County; some nice enough to have faceted! Had a fantastic dig on the way home to Florida at the former JXR (Jackson Crossroads) mine just outside Washington, Ga. The M.A.G.M.A club was having a dig for the re-opening of the pit and I worked on a huge boulder for over six hours...with a little help from my friends...and found some large drusy quartz specimens and some lovely amethyst crystals. Brought some rocks home to work on at my convenience. Never thought that dental picks should be included with my tools but I met some great "teachers" along the way. If anyone is planning on going to any of these areas then put up a post and I will share my newly gained knowledge!!! Happy digging, Marcia
